The PositionQuality Control Scientist
The ideal candidate will perform QC testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished goods for release to market. Ensures that products meet quality standards and are fit-for purpose as indicated in all product claims. Maintains areas in high state of inspection preparedness by maintaining equipment, records and laboratory environment in order to align with regulatory requirements using current regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
The Opportunity:
Performs product QC testing according to standard procedures and within specified time frames. Additionally, analyzes and interprets test results and completes QC reports accurately and in a timely manner.
Performs ad hoc testing as and when required for troubleshooting, investigation purposes, projects and validation purposes.
Drives NCR/CAPA/CR processes for QC and participates in investigations. Utilizes technical writing skills to compile investigation or RCA reports where required. Provides input for brainstorming activities, support approaches for problem-solving, trouble-shooting and data analysis related to QC failures.
Manages schedule and workload independently and communicates any delays/deadlines that cannot be met to the relevant line manager or stakeholder/s.
Ensures training on QC assays are complete before performing testing as well as provide training to other team members when required.
Maintains selected pieces of equipment and areas of the facility and may assist in regular laboratory environment monitoring tests
Support 5S efforts to streamline overall operations and improve efficiency. Ensure that new process implementation actions are performed on time.
Actively works toward achieving departmental KPIs and may perform other duties as assigned by management.
Who Are You:
Honours degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related fields and 1 - 2 years relevant working experience; or an equivalent combination of education and working experience.
Experience in Molecular Biology techniques, such as PCR, qPCR and next-generation sequencing.
An understanding of the concepts associated with Quality Control.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint required).

Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment, flexibility to adjust with moving priorities and ensuring superior attention to accuracy and details, while meeting deadlines in a timely manner.
Critical thinker with a creative and disciplined approach to problem solving.
Must have demonstrated capacity to write and comprehend complex protocols and reports, programs, and situations.
The ability to work independently and productively with minimal direction, and routinely exercise initiative and sound judgment.
Experience in ISO quality management systems (i.e. ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485) will be advantageous.
