**Quality Control Tech** Sedalia, MO **Department:** Quality **FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt (Hourly) **Salary Grade:** Non-Union CTOS Position **Location:** Sedalia, MO **Summary:** Provide a brief, high-level summary of the general nature of the position; an overview of why the job exists; and what the job is to accomplish. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + _Perform visual inspection of units to assure proper welds, compliance to blueprints and compliance to work orders._ + _Fill in discrepancies on discrepancy sheets accurately, precisely, and legibly._ + _Chalk mark welds which require work._ + _Perform visual inspection of paint and check mill thickness_ + _Test all lights and air plumbing_ + _Maintain a solid friendly working repour between the Quality Control Department and Manufacturing, Engineering, and employees on the floor_ + _Clean up of areas and be safety conscious_ + _Capable of identifying poor structural welds_ + _Capable of reading blueprint drawings for welds symbols, basic dimensioning of parts and/or jigs & fixtures_ + _Responsible for inspection of component parts fit and basic dimensioning within the basic trailer assembly_ + _Responsible for detection, documentation and notification of proper supervisors of improper operations, defective material and questionable conditions and work habits_ + _Must be capable of setting up and testing any mechanical inspections using proper tools and procedures_ + _Must be capable of performing non-destructive testing, dimensional checks, blueprint readings, necessary shop mathematics_ + _Must maintain a system for collections of data and record maintenance_ + _Responsible for periodic checks of welding machines to verify the machine setting is within prescribed limits for the welding operation being performed_ + _Must have knowledge of what corrective procedures may be applied when prior improper operations, defective materials, blueprint errors, have occurred and when to report problems to the responsible supervisor_ + _Encourage and promote the practice of safety and adherence to safety and other company rules_ + _Encourage and promote the proper operation and care of all equipment and machinery_ + _Maintain a line of communication between inspection and manufacturing to resolve discrepancies as noted_ **Required Skills and Qualifications:** State the minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job. These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position. _Qualifications include:_ + _Possess High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED Must possess ability and knowledge to confidently read blueprints and weld procedures_ + _Must have prior knowledge of welding, fabrication_ + _Must possess standard knowledge of hand and power tools and know how to use them_ + _1-3 years’ experience in previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required_ **Preferred Skills and Qualifications:** This section should include all preferred **but not required** skills/qualifications. + _AWS Certified Welder preferred_ + _An associate degree in quality technology_ **Working Conditions:** + Work is conducted inside and outside during all-weather types. + Temperatures will be variable according to season and specific work site. + Tasks may involve moderate to heavy physical labor. + Walking, climbing, standing, sitting, and lifting are required **Physical Requirements:** + Must be able to work in cold and hot weather conditions some part of the time. + Be able to grip, pull and push heavy objects. + Ability to work with hands and perform routine lifting up to 50 lbs. + Stand for extended periods of time. _This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
