Job Summary:

Altair seeks smart performance engineers to work on performance test automation projects in validating the performance and scalability of cloud-based enterprise web application platform, platform services, APIs, cloud applications, UI-UX, GraphQL APIs designed in the latest cutting-edge technologies. Our platform leverages the latest and greatest in web components, K8s containerization, CI/CD, and agile development practices. The QA team works closely with Product Owners, Developers, and Development Operations to keep new code moving through the software development lifecycle efficiently, and with a keen eye for quality.  Also, our QA team is constantly testing the latest and greatest in modern technologies in the ML Ops, data analytics, and data science industry.

The successful applicant for this position will play the role of performance engineer in automating and testing Altair products in a multiplatform environment. In addition, you will work with other QA Engineers across Altair as part of our Quality Center of Excellence including Security Testing, Functional Testing, Automation and more. As a member of the Quality Center of Excellence team, you will work closely with product management, software development and applications engineering teams. You must be driven by a desire to be efficient, collaborative, thoughtful and productive in a fast-paced environment of prolific engineers. 

What You Will Do:

·       Review and study the performance requirements and prepare a comprehensive and well-structured performance test automation plans and execution strategy.

·       Design and develop performance/load tests for concurrency, endurance, scalability, reliability and resilience.

·       Design effective workload models with arrival rates, ramp-up, ramp-down, spikes, steps etc considering objective, goals and resource constraint.

·       Implementation automated performance tests into product certification process integrated into CI/CD.

·       Analyze performance test results, create test metrics, descriptive, diagnostic dashboards and present test reports.

·       Log performance issues with all relevant information, analyze the severity with stake holders and timely validation of fixed defects.

·       Investigate performance issues, bottlenecks & anomaly and identify performance optimization techniques.

·       Collaborate, communicate with the cross functional teams in deploying, configuring test setup including monitoring, visualization & CICD tools.

What You Will Need:

·       Solid experience using performance test tools such as JMeter, Locust or  PyTestBenchMark.

·       Programing and scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, Shell script, Golang, Yaml.

·       Working knowledge of Linux and Windows OS administration and cloud infrastructure management.

·       Experience in testing web and desktop applications, RDBMs or IMDB for big data with strong analytical skills.

·       Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work effectively in a distributed team.

Basics:

·       Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science engineering or similar technical field.

·       3+ years of Software QA experience with at least 2 years as a Performance test engineer.

·       Self-motivated team player with strong problem solving and quality assurance skills.

·       Passionate about exploring and learning new skills

Preferred:

·       Ready to take up challenges in automation, learning test automation tools and frameworks.

·       Understanding of web application architecture, cloud technologies, container platforms, Gitlab, Jenkins, debugging with browser developer tools.

·       Experience with Data Science, Data Visualization and Data Analytics

·       Working knowledge with Kubernetes and with a variety of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and OCI

·       Usage of the following tools: Load Runner, telegraf, Grafana, Jira, TestRail, Xray, GIT, Jenkins, Postgres, Neon, InfluxDB.
