Quality Engineer 1 - Nuclear Fuel Services - Erwin, TN
Summary Description of Job:
Assist senior Quality Engineers to develop, implement, and audit Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems to assure compliance to customer requirements or national standards. Assist senior Quality Engineer(s) to maintain the quality of specific products. Assist in the performance of system evaluations to assure compliance with customer, regulatory, or internal specifications. Continually strive for improved quality standards that shall lower costs of products and processes at NFS.
Major Duties and Responsibilities of Job:
Assist senior Quality Engineer(s) in releasing raw materials, in-process materials, and final products for shipment; assist in preparation of support information for Approval Requests, Engineering Change Requests, Degradation of Specification Requirements, and Information Submittals; assist in evaluation of material quality data and preparation of certifications of final product for conformance to customer specifications. Assist senior Quality Engineer(s) in preparing and/or revising Quality Assurance/Quality Control manuals, plans, and procedures. Assist senior Quality Engineer(s) in planning and performing audits, system evaluations, and follow-up evaluations of production, QA, QC, calibration, security, material control, safety, ALARA, Fitness-for-Duty Program, and vendor QA/QC. Assist senior Quality Engineer(s) in maintaining laboratory qualifications and cross-check programs; assist in establishing product/process inspection methods and practices. Assist senior Quality Engineer(s) in coordinating, maintaining off-site analytical services and a nuclear materials vault (quality retention) including assisting in the physical inventory of SNM. Assist senior Quality Engineer(s) in maintaining the control and calibration of Measurement, Inspection, and Test Equipment for the process and laboratory areas. Assist senior Quality Engineer(s) in tracking quality trends and production yields.
Educational Requirements of Job:
B.S. Degree OR in lieu of a B. S. degree, B.A. Degree is acceptable with two additional years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
Experience Requirements of Job: (Beyond educational or equivalent):
With B. S. degree, must have one year experience in QC/QA or with B. A. degree must have 3 years of QA/QC experience.
Pay: $56,000 - $88,000
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $56,000 and $88,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
