Quality Engineer
Job Descriptions: The Quality Engineer will design, develop, and execute quality assurance and control systems. Uses expertise and judgment to implement a wide variety of quality concepts, practices, and procedures. Contributes to methods for verification/validation of product, deliverable systems, and services to ensure adherence to company/customer requirements. Works toward the prevention and/or resolution of product and service process non-conformances. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: + Assists in the implementation of, and compliance with, the ISO 9001 standard. + Assists in identifying customer-required quality compliance specifications and translating them into effective procedures, instructions, and training material. + Develops and maintains quality procedures and instructions for engineering, production, and design and development projects. + Reviews mechanical drawings for compliance with industry standards and best practices. + Leads and supports Corrective Action efforts for problem identification, improvement, and prevention. + Provides support for customer representatives regarding quality issues. + Reviews inspection data for correctness and compliance. + Supports the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system. + Analyzes customer complaints and other quality escapes and drives corrective or preventative action in response. + Maintains mission quality documentation, including material, product, and system conformance certificates. + Presents nonconformance reports, inspection reports, and other mission quality documentation to customer representatives. Other Job Functions + Works with suppliers to resolve or improve quality issues and to implement effective corrective action. + Supports engineers and technical staff in design and process validations, process control, process training, process improvement, and risk management. + Coordinates process steps, standards and requirements, and infrastructure to enhance the existing ISO 9001 quality management system. + Occasional travel may be required to support mission activities or to perform supplier visits. + Other quality related responsibilities assigned by management. Required Experience: Required Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field. + Minimum of 1 year of experience in a quality or engineering related function + Must be able to obtain/maintain DoD clearance. + Ability to read and interpret design drawings, schematics, and military specifications. + Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing using ASME Y14.5 or similar standards + Experience utilizing technical writing techniques to create reports, procedures, or other formal technical documentation. + Working knowledge of desktop applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Good problem-solving abilities using systematic, logical, and sequential approaches. + Self-motivation to take the initiative to complete tasks. + Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment to reach common results and goals. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience with Quality Management processes in an environment compliant with ISO9001:2015, or AS9100D standards. + ASQ Quality Engineer certification. + Experience reviewing material test reports and dimensional inspection reports for accuracy. + Knowledge of gauging methodology and metrology. + Experience in Quality Assurance within the aerospace or defense industry. + Working understanding of assembly methods, fixtures, tooling, and fabrication methods.
