Position Description
This position is part of the Quality team and is responsible for identifying, planning, and executing quality improvement in electromechanical products. The Quality team directly supports Operations as well as provides Quality improvement guidance in all departments for this site. The Quality Engineer, in this context, is responsible for the identification of quality problems and non-value costs, data mining and analysis, devising improvement plans for approval, and executing improvement in a team environment. The expectations, for this role, are to support the improvement of the site’s quality and financial goals, by reducing the cost of existing legacy products, and continually evaluate all processes to improve efficiency and quality. Multi-disciplinary problem solving as well as data mining and analysis are primary aspects of this position.

Able to continuously learn new technologies and adapt to a fast-moving manufacturing environment with changing priorities. Complex problem-solving using the 8D methodology, utilizing root cause analysis and structured problem-solving tools. Ability to collect, review and interpret statistical data and information to evaluate process changes and implement manufacturing solutions. Successful knowledge of Reliability analysis, Designed Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).Major Tasks:
Outline of the main types of tasks expected while performing the role include:
All actions to include consideration of and compliance with site, company and regulatory environmental, health and safety rules. Support the ISO-9001 Quality and ISO-17025 Calibration standards. Understanding and considerations for improving higher level metric and key performance indicators Provide support in daily quality sustaining administrative activities including but not limited to creating weekly quality reports, Customer requests for surveys, document editing, etc. Product reliability data mining, analysis, and reporting. Preventative quality methods to prevent quality problems from occurring in the first place. 8D problem solving methods for when problems arise, and devising root cause analysis and corrective actions plans for eliminating problems from reoccurring. Drive the strategy for Containment to prevent known problems from escaping to the customers. Directly work with Sustaining Engineering to influence continuous improvement for existing products and processes. Support Sustaining Engineering to address chronic warranty events by providing robust containment and resolution and using an 8D report format. Work with internal Supply Chain and vendors to identify cost reductions, eliminate quality issues, reduce lead-times, replace obsolete BoM items using rigorous qualification steps, such as FAI. Support the improvement of detailed work instructions to support equipment operation and processes. Support the annual equipment calibration process to ensure all equipment are properly calibrated and fit for use. Implement Lean Manufacturing concepts, especially when it addresses quality defect elimination.Education and Work Experience:
B.S. in engineering or science degree, such as Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or Optics/Photonics. Exhibitable knowledge of a structured problem-solving methodology. Experience with manufacturing methodologies, procedures, and project management.Quality Department values
