General Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer with an Electrical Engineering background and PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting quality assurance processes, conducting failure analysis, participating in ISO audits, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product reliability and manufacturing efficiency. This role requires a candidate with a strong foundation in process control, lean manufacturing, and CQE certification who is able to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Material Review and Disposition:  Review non-conforming materials and work with cross-functional teams to make disposition decisions (accept, reject, rework, etc.).  Ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.

Failure Analysis:  Conduct root cause analysis on product failures, identify corrective actions and report findings.  Work closely with production and engineering teams to implement corrective measures and prevent future occurrences.

Process Control:  Implement and maintain process control systems to ensure product quality during manufacturing.  Monitor key process metrics and drive improvements in yield, efficiency, and defect reduction.

Conduct PFMEA:  Lead and participate in Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify potential risks and implement measures to mitigate those risks in new and existing processes.

Support Product Testing & Development:  Collaborate with engineering and production teams during product development, testing, and validation.  Ensure products meet quality standards throughout the development lifecycle.

Conduct and Support ISO Audits:  Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with ISO standards.  Provide documentation and process validation during audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Technical Writing:  Develop and maintain detailed work instructions, quality procedures and technical documentation to support production and inspection processes.

Inspection & Testing:  Oversee product inspections at various stages of production to ensure compliance with specifications. Perform first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections and final quality checks.

Develop and report quality metrics and analyze the trends.

Lean Manufacturing:  Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects aimed at optimizing processes, reducing waste and improving quality.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:  Work closely with customer engineering, production, and supply chain teams to address quality issues, ensure product conformity and meet customer requirements.

Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately 10%.

Supervisory Responsibilities                                            

This job has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide leadership to Quality Team, including carrying out lead responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations and laws and the organization’s policies and procedures.  This includes, but is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education and/or Experience:  

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or closely related field and 5+ years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Other Skills and Abilities:

PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) experience required.

CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) certification is highly preferred.

Familiarity with ISO quality standards and experience in conducting and supporting ISO audits.

Strong knowledge of failure analysis techniques and experience conducting root cause analysis.

Experience with process control, PFMEA and quality management tools.

Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical writing skills for developing work instructions and documentation.

Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production and customer teams.

Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.

Experience with inspection processes, including in-process and final inspections.

No supervisory experience is required, but strong team collaboration skills are essential.

Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and statistical process control (SPC) is highly preferred.

Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems is highly preferred.

Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and development processes is highly preferred.

Experience using ERP systems (IFS a plus) is highly preferred.

  

Salary Range:

$74,800.00-$99,880.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
