Quality Engineer
Job Title: Quality Assurance Engineer
Job Description

Assures acceptability of products, traceability and accuracy of documentation. Performs various analytical auditing, inspection, and product support duties. Responsible for new tooling and component inspection, corrective actions, continuous quality improvement, and gauging instruments. Works closely with quality functions and departments to reduce variations in companywide processes and assure quality products to meet all customer requirements. Substitutes in the absence of the QA Director.

ResponsibilitiesDefine the quality plan, characteristics, and design fixtures for new tooling and components inspection.Interact with customers and suppliers regarding decision-making and problem-solving.Provide support for daily production and ensure adherence to quality procedures; take corrective actions when necessary.Assure acceptability and traceability of products and accuracy of documentation.Perform various analytical, auditing, inspection, and product support duties.Set up designing fixtures for measurements and reviews for continuous improvements.Ensure adherence to document and quality-specific procedures and technical certification.Provide product inspection support at all levels in the molding and assembly departments, including incoming inspection and tool evaluation.Prepare first article data and characteristic accountability (PAPP).Review material and processing certifications.Train other personnel for quality-related tasks.Attend training required and/or recommended to achieve benchmark quality performance.Perform work tasks in a quality manner to meet all internal and external customer requirements.Perform job in a safe manner and work towards achieving company safety goals.Substitute in the absence of the QA Director.Recommend cost-saving ideas and actively contribute to continuous improvement.Perform other related duties as assigned.Essential SkillsThorough knowledge of quality assurance policies, inspection procedures and techniques, measuring equipment related to tool evaluation and product layout inspection, and statistical analysis.Knowledge of the principles of molding, SPC, PPAP, APQP, ISO 9001 audits, ECN, PGA, GD&T, CMM and VMM machines, computer applications, special processes, machining, and plastic molding injection.Excellent math skills and understanding of statistics as they apply to measurement.Good written and verbal communication skills, computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).Good problem-solving skills.Proficient in blueprint interpretation and full understanding of GD&T.Ability to work with minimum supervision and to work cooperatively with others in stressful situations.Ability to maintain accurate records and document data.Understanding of automotive tools, Control Plans, PPAP process, Gauge R&R, Capability Studies, PFMEA’s.Ability to write IQ, OQ, and PQ Medical Protocols and Reports.Ability to write and compile PPAP Reports for customers.Ability to understand, modify, recommend, and improve measurement techniques related to inspection or lab measurements.B.S. degree in Quality or Manufacturing Engineering plus 10 years of related experience in manufacturing, plastic molding, or equivalent.Additional Skills & QualificationsWorking knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office programs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Experience with metrology preferred.Shop floor experience or willingness to go out on the floor.Understanding of gear data and measurements is a plus.Work Environment

This role involves working closely with quality functions and departments to ensure quality products. The work environment includes both office and shop floor settings, requiring adherence to safety standards and quality procedures. The company has a robust training program to ensure benchmark quality performance and continuous improvement. The position may require attendance at training sessions and involvement in ISO and customer audits.
