Job Summary

The Quality Engineer for home and garden will focus on developing and implementing quality processes and quality improvements. The role will work closely with Sourcing, Corporate Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Regulatory and NPD.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities Always understand and demonstrate safe work practices. Ensure a safe work environment and comply with all company policies and procedures. Create and maintain a positive and respectful environment for all employees that is free from intimidation and harassment. Create, Contribute, participate, and improve Key Performance Indicators including safety, quality, production, cost and lean implementation. Responsible for coaching, mentoring, selection, and training of all Quality Processes, Quality systems, , quality and operation SOP’s, work instructions, and test protocols. Support root cause investigations analysis and corrective action regarding quality related issues. Champion the upkeep and programing of GainSeeker S.P.C. software and installation of measurement devices. Facilitate and promote the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques (DMAIC) such as D.O.E, FMEA, 5 Why’s, Pareto Diagrams for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action. Effectively communicate with other Supervisors to ensure internal and external investigations such as CAPA and complaint forms are effectively communicated and completed in a time manner. Responsible for all calibration logs, Gage R&R activities, verification, and service of all calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, scales, and specifying test equipment in the QA lab and shop floor. Create or revise SOP standard operating procedures, work instructions, IQ, OQ, & PQ protocols, and control plans to ensure quality of product. Approval and issuance of GainSeeker S.P.C. templates, and QC in process documentation. Analyze and test products using instruments such as pH meters, analytical scales for specific gravity, moister balances, spectrophotometers for turbidity, to verify conformance to. Facilitate timely testing of outsourced products. Data analysis and report building. Will lead quality validation effort for new processes, equipment, and upgrades. Other support duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience Profile Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related science. 3-5 years of experience as a manufacturing quality engineer

 

Required Skills Knowledge and experience implementing of Lean manufacturing tools and practices including 5S, Kaizen, SIPOC Proficient with MS products and QE software such as Minitab and GainSeeker SPC. Working knowledge on inventory management systems such as SAP Excellent problem solving skills (5 Why, Fault tree, FMEA), including previous experience leading problem solving groups Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Ability to comprehend and follow the operating masters, SOP’s, BOM’s, and Test procedures Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Track record of leading small cross function corrective action groups. Can work with little oversite as an independent quality resource to operation.

 

Work Environment

20% normal office environment and 80% manufacturing environment
