Quality Engineer
Job Title: Quality EngineerJob Description This position will work with manufacturing and engineering personnel to ensure the integrity of the product and quality management system in accordance with customer, corporate, regulatory, and statutory requirements. The role focuses on the continuous improvement of the quality management system and quality system objectives, aiming to enhance customer satisfaction. Responsibilities + Oversee Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) and Purchasing. + Ensure processes required for quality management systems are maintained and conducted without compromise. + Manage and maintain test case procedures and implement automated testing processes when possible. + Identify issues with production-related processes and recommend areas for improvement. + Promote customer awareness throughout the organization. + Work directly with customers and suppliers to resolve product and system integrity issues. + Have the authority and responsibility to disposition nonconforming products. + Conduct internal audits of Quality Management Systems. + Audit product integrity. + Control and manage documentation. + Coordinate peer and third-party audits of quality management systems. + Review the flow-down of general customer, corporate, OEM, and regulatory requirements. + Maintain metrics of quality management systems and communicate performance and effectiveness to the organization as applicable. + Follow up on corrective action activities to ensure timely closure and effectiveness. + Audit company work instructions for alignment with customer requirements and operator comprehension. + Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering resources to determine root causes and implement corrective actions for escapes and product integrity failures. + Complete continuous improvement activities for quality management systems. + Perform other work-related duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Experience with ISO quality standards, manufacturing processes, quality improvement, and process improvement. + ISO certification and auditing experience. + Knowledge of PPAPs, document control, statistical analysis, customer compliance, failure analysis, and corrective action. + ASQ certification. + Management review experience. + Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Demonstrated ability to take projects from design concept to final production. + Strong understanding of electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes. + Familiarity with relevant industry standards and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001:2015). + Proficiency in using various testing and measurement equipment for electro-mechanical products. + Experience in conducting performance or reliability testing is a plus. + Strong organizational, communication, leadership, continuous improvement, and critical thinking skills. + Proficiency in technical writing. + Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. + Experience in lean operations including problem-solving techniques such as Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, DFMEA, and Lean 6S. + Proven history of analyzing data and statistics to improve industrial processes. + Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with colleagues at all levels. + Ability to write detailed work instructions, reports, business correspondence, and effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external sources. Work Environment The work environment involves spending approximately 20% of the time on the production floor, 50% interacting with customers through calls, meetings, and corrective actions, and 30% on process development. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with the head of manufacturing to capture process improvements, engage with clients, and manage vendor quality. The company is evolving its processes, providing stability and growth opportunities. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $43.00/hr.
