QUALITY ENGINEER 


The Quality Engineer provides quality support and leadership for all new and existing products and processes in the plant. Coordinates with the proper company personnel to provide timely and accurate answers for the customers. Leads development and refinement of product specific Quality systems to ensure compliance to customer standards.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Lead problem solving activities for customer issues and provide customer with complete 8DOperates PC-based software programs including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, Mini TabConduct internal audits to ensure conformance with IATF 16949 requirementsPrepare and submit PPAP per customer requirementsObtain PPAP approval for new product and process changesPerform/Support root cause analysis methodology using the 8D formatOperates PC-based software programs including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, Mini TabSupport product launches, Engineering changes and/or improvement changes at customer location and ensures Quality systems are updated to complianceAssists in training new Quality employees in all aspects of Quality inspections and document training with education and Training sign-in sheetsMonitor floor to ensure product is produced to customer specification and inspection activities are being conducted in accordance with control plan requirementsHelp to establish breakpoint for non-conforming materialIssue of RMA for customer issuesSupport plant floor inspections and Dock AuditsDevelop and implement preventive actions for plant production processesDevelop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluationDevise forms/instructions for recording, evaluating, reporting quality and reliability dataEvaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testingInitiate and implement re-work instructionsInitiate claims to suppliers for defective materialsOther Quality functions as assigned by Quality Manager
Requirements

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of ISO/TS16949 IATF standardPrior automotive die casting and or machining manufacturing experience is a plusProficient in Core Quality Tools - APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEA & SPCProblem Solving tools such as 8D, Is – Is not, Cause and Effect, etc.Working knowledge with PCDMIS software and CMM Programming is a plusWorking knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ability to read and interpret blueprints and CMM reportsEffective interpersonal skills, including listening and persuasionExperienced in quality system and process auditsWorking knowledge of Six Sigma conceptsData collection and statistical analysis; Minitab preferredMust understand basic math and statistics


Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in a technical area such as Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Management, Materials/Supply Chain, etc.  May consider eight (8) years of directly relevant Quality/Manufacturing experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree At least five (5) years of experience in a Quality role performing responsibilities that are same as or similar to those listed in the Job SummaryLiaison experience with customers and suppliersMust have working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, 8D methodology, supplier quality, quality tools, and customer web-based systems
