Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to join our Fabrication Quality team in Mesa, AZ.
This position will support multiple Boeing programs and work cross functionally across BDS divisions, programs/sites. Ideal candidate should have data/analytics and quality process understanding to be able to communicate quality requirements to the stakeholders. This position will require a background in Quality, ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders and is required to have proficiency working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, with the ability to meet deadlines.
This position is for 1st shift, but will require ability to support off-shifts and weekends according to business needs.
Position Responsibilities:
Level 3:
Represents Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
Provides Quality interpretation of requirements.
Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for small programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities.
Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
Provides material review dispositions for non-conformances.
Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
Recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances.
Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
Works under general direction.
Level 4:
Leads integration of contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
Provides interpretation of complex requirements. Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for large programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
Develops Quality criteria to support supplier selection activities.
Leads various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
Develops and selects methods for analysis, testing and audit to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
Assists in development of new standards repairs for non-conformances.
Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
Develops and implements corrective actions.
Performs benchmarking and other forms of advanced analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
Works under minimal direction.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
More than 3 years of experience performing analysis to identify and evaluate the quality of products, operations and processes to Quality Management System requirements, applicable company procedures, contract requirements and/or government regulations
More than 3 years of experience with data analysis and root cause corrective action (RCCA)
Experience presenting and communicating data in Senior Leadership briefings
More than 1 year of experience in aerospace or manufacturing
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Level 4: 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
Experience using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or similar planning software
Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
Experience working in a fabrication environment, Electrical, Metals, Composites.
Experience partnering with Production Engineering and reviewing manufacturing planning.
Typical Education/Experience:
Level 3:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Level 4:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for mid-level (Level 3): USD 88,400 - 119,600
Summary pay range for senior (Level 4): USD 108,800 - 147,200
