Position Summary:This position plays a crucial role in McCain Foods India's success by Managing the implementation and execution of Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs for Raw Material and Packaging Material suppliers. The objective is to ensure the availability of safe, wholesome, and premium-quality raw materials and packaging materials for product manufacturing in alignment with McCain's Food Safety and Quality Management System.
The job entails comprehensive Supplier Quality responsibilities, including onboarding new suppliers, ensuring food safety compliance through audits and engagement programs, harmonizing specification management, managing supplier documentation, and overseeing supplier compliance and performance. Additionally, this role requires close collaboration with Plant Quality and Procurement, with clearly defined responsibilities.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Manage and lead the New Supplier Approval Process, which includes due diligence on documents as per KEFSQ and other legal requirements, MUI halal registration of ingredients and packaging materials, and conducting site approval audits followed by CAPA verification.Maintain a supplier database with records of approval and compliance documents. Present the supplier approval file to the FSQ Manager for sign-off to ensure that only approved suppliers are utilized.Coordinating with the product development team to conduct new ingredient trials while ensuring food safety and quality requirements are met.Conduct the annual supplier audit and surveillance visit in accordance with food safety and quality compliance at the supplier's facility. This will involve regular audits based on a risk matrix and ensuring that all observed findings are fully addressed. Additionally, manage the documentation and data related to the audit report, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective action and preventive action (CAPA) report, including evidence of closure for all issues identified.Rigorous validation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), the thorough auditing of data, and the systematic implementation of corrective actions arising from verification activities directed at the supplier.Evaluates the Food Safety and Quality management systems of approved raw material and packaging suppliers through a thorough review of documentation, including FSSAI license, GFSI Certification, Halal Certification, and biannual FSSR reports. Initiates escalation procedures to address any identified deviations promptly, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.Oversee the Supplier Food Safety and Quality Index by tracking complaints, ensuring effective communication with suppliers, conducting meetings, and verifying Corrective Action Plans (CAP) to prevent recurring FSQ complaints. Implement and manage standard procedures and templates for Supplier complaint handling, RCA & CAPA collection and verification.Evaluate supplier performance based on incoming compliance, food safety, and the quality compliant index, along with timely submission of other regulatory documents for continuous improvement. Publish the TCI of suppliers on a biannual basis in collaboration with cross-functional teams and suppliers.Supplier development and upskilling through the Engagement Program, known as the Supplier Sampark Program, will be based on performance evaluations (TCI) and risk assessments. This initiative will involve close collaboration with the procurement function and will include regular progress updates.Conduct a supplier risk assessment for all raw material and packaging suppliers, ensuring that no high-risk suppliers providing high-risk ingredients are included in the system, with escalation procedures in place for reporting such cases.Conducting an annual review of the KEFSQ Supplier Quality Management SOP and incorporating new requirements as per AIB, FSSC 22000, SQMS, and RBI standards.Ensuring All raw materials and packaging materials must be registered with MUI and JUHF Halal before trial and commercial production.Create a system for ongoing review and alignment of COA with signed specifications, ensuring clear communication with suppliers about requirements.Implementing a calibration program for auditors and outsourced auditors to identify potential risks at supplier facilities.Create and implement strategies, procedures, new initiatives, and projects to improve supplier management. Continually review supplier product management such as allergen management and new additions at the supplier facility.Leading Supplier Quality Management project to digitalize Incoming Inspection, Food Safety & Quality Compliance, Supplier Documentation, and Performance Evaluation Management.Conducting a thorough review of the Ingredient Risk Assessment together with a microbiologist ensures the highest safety and quality standards are met.Participating in cross-functional discussions on complaint root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions at the suppliers' end.Participating in weekly self-Inspection rounds & identifying potential Food Safety risk in the plant ensuring end to end closure. Contributing to customer and other audits, such as AIB and FSSC, to ensure the plant achieves its targets.Engaging in daily product cutting sessions to understand the potential Impact of any deviation & working with supplier on the issue.Evaluate suppliers' food safety and quality data, identifying areas for improvement through meetings. Address major compliance issues with suppliers in collaboration with the McCain Quality Team to mitigate Food safety risks. Requirements:
Academic and other accreditations:
Food Technologist/master’s degree in science.Lead Auditor with Knowledge of ISO 9001; ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 is desirable.Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to FSSAI.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
