Quality Improvement Specialist

Position Summary: Acts as a quality consultant and subject matter expert. Responsible for uncovering opportunities for improvement through data collection/analysis and observation of processes of care. Accountable for data pertaining to assigned clinical outcomes. Assists with, and coordinates, ongoing data management and monitoring of clinical performance and compliance with standards/guidelines of healthcare regulatory and reimbursement agencies. Responsible for managing, summarizing and analyzing data, creating customized reports, and providing level of support needed by internal customers.
Responsibilities:
Assists in the development of goals and objectives, policies, procedures and protocols as they relate to the performance improvement. Abstracts, compiles, analyzes, and evaluates data to identify patterns or trends, using statistical processes and controls and various databases or software programs. Supports in resolving identified concerns or trends through facilitation, coordination, education, monitoring and evaluation. Serves as facilitator/ team/member leader for assigned quality improvement teams and or committees. Creates and prepares reports using statistics and graphics which detail quality, appropriateness and consistency with best practices. Communicates performance improvement activities to executive leaders through presentations or reports. Researches literature or external benchmarks/data and surveys like hospitals in support of performance improvement. Oversees development, and or design, and or maintenance of databases. Educates medical and hospital staff regarding performance improvement methodology, tools and measurement. Ensures that the use and retention of data meets established peer review and confidentiality policies. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review in professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Performs other related duties as required and directed.Qualifications:
Required
Associate’s degree in healthcare, health administration, public health or related health field from an accredited educational institution. Two years of recent clinical or healthcare experiencePreferred:
