QUALITY IMPROVEMENT SPECIALIST - RN (Registered Nurse)
**DEPT: QUALITY INNOVATION** **Full-Time / 8AM - 5PM / 80 HRS PER PAY** The Quality Improvement Specialist (QIS) is responsible for the oversight of daily patient safety and quality improvement activities to achieve program’s goals with the system/organizational strategic priorities. The role is developed from the needs of the entire Premier Health Partners system and hospital community to improve the patient experience specifically focusing on high reliability processes to reduce serious safety events and improve patient outcomes. The QIS collaborates with persons clinically responsible for inpatient and outpatient departments as well as non-patient care support areas based on interpretation and evaluation of CMS, CDC, OSHA, ODH, APIC, TJC, and EPA guidelines, standards and/or regulations or other standards related to safe and effective patient care **Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor's degree** Additional requirements: + Type of degree: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. + Area of study or major: Nursing + Preferred educational qualifications: Master of Nursing preferred. + Position specific testing requirement: N/A Licensure/Certification/Registration + Valid State of Ohio licensure as Registered Nurse. + Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality preferred. Experience Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 - 5 years of job related experience Prior job title or occupational experience: N/A Prior specific functional responsibilities: N/A Preferred experience: Experience in the specialty of patient safety or quality improvement is preferred Other experience requirements: Three years clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting required Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of high reliability concepts and tools, performance improvement methodologies, Joint Commission standards and Federal/State regulations is desired. Proficient in key clinical and administrative databases required for active surveillance (i.e. EMRs, lab systems, ADT, surgery systems, pharmacy and radiology information). Must be able to be an effective team member in multidisciplinary teams. Team and consensus building skills are critical; requires situational awareness, relationship management, and the ability to drive change through influence and persuasion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision required
