POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for inspecting and testing products at various stages of the weld process to ensure that products fulfill customer specifications and quality requirements. The inspector position requires constant floor inspection/documentation of TIG welding.

Responsible for inspecting the quality and conformance of products used in the manufacture of heat transfer products (i.e. heat sinks, radiators, heat pipes, extrusions) at various stages of the production process to ensure the product meets the specifications of the blueprint and/or job order. Read and interpret specifications, blueprints, and/or standards to confirm product requirements. Compare product to requirements and ensure completion of operation or assembly. Inspect product to determine compliance with order specifications, Boyd’s, and its affiliated companies’ quality control systems for compliance with legal requirements, and shipping and packing facilities for conformity to specified standards. Identify product imperfections and damage. Perform minor cosmetic repairs on product as required. Perform inspection / verification of materials used in fabrication Generating and review various fabrication documentation Inspection of in-process welding Inspection of final welds Work to maintain the integrity of Boyd’s Quality Systems Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability In-process welding inspection and surveillance: Surveillance during welding to verify compliance with specified procedures including any preheat, interpass temperature control and post heat requirements. Inspection and Test Plans: Assistance and agreement with the preparation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) Post-weld visual inspection of completed weldments against specification requirements and drawings. Ensure work area is kept clean and organized at all times Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with company policies and procedures Be an advocate for safety. Insist on safe practices throughout the inspection areas All other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Minimum 5-Years welding experience Ability to lift up to 40 pounds Ability to keep precise records and pay close attention to details Computer skills required (i.e Microsoft Word and Excel, Email) Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw and apply valid conclusions. Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and/or correspondence. Strong mathematical skills required, including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to work in a team fostered environment. ISO9001/AS9100 internal auditing experience a plus
QUALIFICATIONS:
All applicants must hold AWS certifications High school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent in relevant work experience. 2-year degree preferred Proficient in accurate use of micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills required
