QA/QC Lab Manager

This role represents a unique opportunity to lead the DuPont Corian® QA/QC Lab team and support the Quality System at our solid surface manufacturing plant in Buffalo, NY.  We are seeking an individual with production lab experience (preferably color control), measurement equipment and specification knowledge, along with strong people management skills.  As a member of the Quality team, this role will utilize your technical background and people management skills to lead the lab team and effectively provide quality support to the production floor.

Responsbilities:

·     Lead the Shift QC and Day QA lab team to support production and release of product and raw materials.  Work with the Operations team to support the overall plant objectives and organizational culture

·     Provide leadership to bargaining unit employees along with shift scheduling, time keeping, and grievance settlements

·     Performance Management and organization of resources (management, training, qualification and safety compliance, recognition, feedback, coaching, counseling, and rewards)

·     Foster an environment with open communication and feedback

·     Provide internal customer support to the production lines

·     Work closely with Quality and Technical engineers to support projects and improvement initiatives

·     Participate in supplier reviews and certification audits

·     Perform ISO 9001:2015 Internal Audits

·     Manage Raw Materials – Work with Supply Chain, Procurement, and R&D to resolve raw material quality issues.  Ensure timely lab release of raw materials.  Oversee raw material lab testing

·     Assist and maintain quality systems to ensure conformance to customer specifications

·     Lead and Proactive participation in lab team improvement initiatives

·     Lead Root Cause Investigations related to Quality

·     Awareness of technical advances in lab testing and quality control

      Perform data analytics on Quality KPI’s. Participate in identifying projects that impact quality improvements

·     Promote and support continuous improvement processes (OPEX, ISO 9001, Safety and Health, Environmental, Quality and Work System)

·     Guide troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts on quality measurement systems and instruments

·     Responsible for maintaining calibration on instruments and test equipment related to release of product

Qualifications

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical field (Chemistry or Engineering preferred)

·       Minimum 5 years industrial or laboratory experience, with hands-on emphasis

·       Working knowledge of ISO9001, Quality systems.  Knowledge of SAP preferred

·       Strong computer (Excel,PowerBI, Powerpoint), written and verbal communication skills

·       Previous supervisory responsibility with demonstrated leadership and team building skills.        (Experience in a Union environment is preferred)

·       Self-starter with good organizational and problem-solving skills

·       Some minimal travel may be required

The Pay range for this role is $63,000.00 - $99,000.00 Annual

How Base Pay is Determined: DuPont has job leveling frameworks that help organize roles based on progressive levels of responsibility, proficiency and qualifications. Each role has an associated pay range (or an established pay rate for some roles) based on the competitive market in each country where we operate. Each individual’s pay is based on a variety of factors, including their role and the associated pay range for that role, their geographic location (i.e., country, state, metropolitan area), as well as their skills, experience, education and certifications, and performance.
