Quality Lab Technician
Job Title: Quality Lab Technician

Job Description

The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for performing duties on the production floor to conduct in-process inspection of batches made in production and activities related to the production process and technical lab. Additionally, they are responsible for any other tasks assigned by the Technical Lab Manager.

ResponsibilitiesMaintain a clean and organized labPrint batch tickets and drum tags for productionEnsure that all batch tickets are completely filled outEnter batch information into Word and Excel filesScan batch tickets and maintain an electronic databaseIssue corrections for material not meeting viscosity specificationsPerform all required testing for production batches as indicated on the batch ticketWrite hold tickets for nonconforming batches and materialsPerform 3 and 30 day retain viscosity checksPerform final inspection of finished goods as neededReport updates to the next shift’s Lab TechnicianOperate a forklift (training will be provided)Inspect incoming raw materials, if neededPerform Dock Audits on the production floorPerform split duties between lab and production: 60% lab and 40% productionEssential SkillsProficient on a computer with Word, Excel, and emailAttention to detailDependability and ability to get along with othersExcellent problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and organizational skillsAdditional Skills & QualificationsQuality experience is preferred but not requiredMobile equipment experience is preferred but not requiredProficient in SPC & SAP is preferred but not requiredGood knowledge of chemistry and mathBachelor of Science in Mathematics, Chemistry, or related field is preferred but not requiredWhy Work Here?

Work Environment

The work environment is a chemical plant with 98% automotive material production. The climate-controlled work environment includes exposure to moving equipment, noise, fumes, vibrations, dust, etc. Work requires overhead reaching, twisting, turning, pivoting, bending, crouching, standing for 8-10 hour shifts, walking, climbing ladders and stairs, moving on and off a forklift, and cleaning equipment/products/floor. Shifts are as follows: 1st shift: 5:00am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday; 2nd shift: 3:30pm – 2:00am, Monday – Friday. Weekend work may be scheduled based on needs or voluntarily, with mandatory weekends possible. Overtime is potential based on business needs, and schedules are posted weekly. Attire includes steel-toed shoes, and PPE such as safety glasses, respirators, gloves, and earbuds are provided.

This is a Contract To Hire position based out of Evansville, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
