TITLE:  Quality Control Lead

LOCATION: Cedar Rapids, IA

REPORTS TO:  Quality Manager

SUPERVISION: 7 Associate Reports

Develop, direct and provide leadership for the implementation and continuous improvement of the plant's analytical quality systems, process' and supporting records.  Use technical expertise, knowledge of the corn wet milling business, and an understanding of company goals to work with Operations, Quality Assurance and customer to assure product quality.  Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements and work with the site management team to make these systems consistent, practical and cost effective. 

As Quality Control Lead, your responsibilities will include:

Lead the QC team to produce precise, accurate and timely test and calibration data and acts as the technical expert on QC expectations for plant personnel. Lead the QC team to maintain accurate and functional quality records, instructions and manuals. Provide training and technical support to laboratory technicians, analysts and operators in the use of applicable analytical equipment and methodologies. Oversee and administer the laboratory proficiency testing program by dispensing appropriate test samples. Maintain and monitor CRA program check sample program for facility.Conduct Out of Specification investigations and maintain records and monitor OOS trends.   Direct the operation of the plant QC team to ensure the timely and proper release of products based on effective sampling and accurate and appropriate testing using Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all safety requirements.  Ensures SAP data is up to date and that relevant business processes are followed. Work with operations and quality assurance to understand current demands on laboratory services.  Ensures that non-routine testing is performed in a timely manner, including any testing done by an outside lab and maintaining the reports. Develop and implement new QC procedures as needed and review, revise and improve existing systems on a periodic basis. Communicate trends and significant findings to management. Lead QC department in customer, regulatory and certification audits. Drive continuous improvements.  Apply scientific methodology, use of root cause and statistical analysis tools to support recommendations for process improvements.Analyze, evaluate and implement recommendations on product quality attributes. Manage laboratory staff as dictate by business needs.Ability to effect change through persuasion and good communication.Direct the development and effective analytical training of plant employees to comply with QC programs.

Qualified candidates will have:

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment, build consensus, and foster relationships at multiple organizational levels and across functions. Excellent leadership abilities to lead and develop the quality control team through the implementation of Measurement Systems Analysis and Statistical Process Control to meet the needs of both internal and external customers. Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize based on company needs. Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills and knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices. Proactive, creative, positive thinking and a strong will to succeed. Ability to rapidly learn new skills and expand expertise into other areas of science. Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field.

Pay Range:

$78,700.00-$104,966.67 Annual

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
