Quality Manager
Job Description We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Quality Assurance Professional to lead, grow, and mature the quality organization within our Fiber Optic Gyroscope and Sensors Manufacturing business in East Granby, Connecticut. This individual will play an important role in achieving the organization's manufacturing and business goals and will be responsible for overseeing and performing functions associated with quality control and quality assurance processes, as well as helping to advance quality documentation and certifications. This role comes with growth potential, both within the Fiber Optic Gyroscope and Sensors business, as well as within the larger Aerospace and Defense organization. This position will have direct reports and will have a high-level of external customer and internal management engagement, along with significant responsibility regarding the direction and performance of the business. Primary Duties & Responsibilities + Acting as primary source of contact for all Customer Quality related needs for the Sensors manufacturing group, including Customer Complaint and RMA handling. + Reviewing drawings, specifications, and source control documentation for compliance to customer requirements and government regulations. + Record, compile and interpret quality control data/inspection results, identify and respond to inspection trends or non-conforming process results, communicate results and observations. + Perform and respond to internal and external quality audits and facilitate corrective action and process improvements based upon the audit results. + Review and approve new and modified product/process specifications, procedures, test methods, work instructions, etc. Provide feedback and input to facilitate improvements as needed. + Support Failure Analysis and the Returned Material Process and ensure the timely analysis and management/disposition of customer failures or complaints. + Drive issues to root cause(s), ensure implementation of systemic corrective/preventive action(s), and monitor for effectiveness. + Oversee and lead improvements to the quality systems and procedures. Lead in quality improvement initiatives. + Support incoming and in-process inspections, final inspections and Customer Source Inspections. Education & Experience + BS degree , preferably in statistics, engineering or equivalent + A minimum of 3 years of quality assurance related experience or a combination of equivalent education and relevant experience + Relevant experience working in defense, medical or automotive manufacturing/operations + The job requires access to defense articles and related technical data subject to the International Traffic and Arms Regulations ("ITAR") 22 C.F.R. §§ 120-130. Therefore applicants must be U.S. persons as the term is defined in ITAR § 120.15 Skills + ASQ Certified Quality Engineer desired, not required + Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 or AS9100D + Familiarity with the following areas: Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Structured Problem Solving (8D, A3) and/or Root Cause Analysis - Corrective and Preventive Actions (RCA-CAPA) + Previous experience with Risk Management, Engineering Change Control, Handling of Deviations and Non-conformances & Lean Six Sigma is a plus + Experience working with cross functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Sales) + Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy + Self-motivated, ability to identify potential problems or improvements and possess the initiative to take appropriate actions as necessary Safety Requirements All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
