Your role and responsibilitiesDeploy and lead the Quality strategy for the Energy Industries unit is Canada, including quality culture, systems, tools, and other functions with the aim to achieve and exceed customer expectations and experience, while ensuring sustainable and efficient operations. Drive the local quality system through the right mix of prevention, continuous improvement, robust root cause analysis, and quick response and sustainable solution to problems. Coordinate efforts of all necessary functions that impact on the Quality results. Ensure the necessary certification requirements are met throughout the organization. This position is pivotal in fostering a culture of excellence, maintaining governance, and continuous improvement within the company. •\tResponsible for establishing and maintaining quality governance frameworks to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, ABB code of conduct, global and local standards and policies. This includes developing and implementing quality policies, conducting regular internal audits, and managing risk through comprehensive risk assessments and mitigation strategies. Oversee supplier quality governance, ensuring that all suppliers meet ABB's stringent quality standards. Additionally, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate quality performance and governance issues to senior management and other stakeholders. These responsibilities are essential for maintaining high-quality standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within ABB.•\tLead quality assurance and control processes, including inspections, testing, and audits to identify and address defects and any issues during execution and customer support. •\tImplement and maintain comprehensive quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This involves creating detailed policies, procedures, and documentation to guide all quality assurance activities. Regularly review and update these systems to adapt to new regulations and industry best practices. This ensures that every aspect of the sales, execution, and delivery process adheres to the highest quality standards, minimizing risks and enhancing overall product reliability. •\tRegularly perform internal audits and inspections to assess the effectiveness of quality control processes within all functions. This includes planning and executing audits, identifying areas of non-compliance, and ensuring that corrective actions are implemented promptly to address any issues found. Prepare detailed audit reports and follow up on the implementation of corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement. This process helps in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and identifying opportunities for process enhancements. •\tThis is a working role and will have no direct reports. Oversee and support various functions and groups, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations. This involves setting clear expectations, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement, and ensuring that team members have the Quality support to perform their roles effectively. Effective team management ensures that quality standards are consistently met and that the team is motivated to achieve excellence. •\tCollaborating with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with sales, engineering, Service, and supply chain teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle. Facilitate communication and collaboration to resolve quality issues quickly and implement improvements that enhance product quality and operational efficiency. Participate in cross-functional meetings, provide quality-related input, and ensure that quality considerations are integrated into all stages of product development and production. Effective collaboration ensures that quality is a shared responsibility and that all departments work together towards common goals.•\tCustomer Feedback and Complaint Management: Handle customer feedback and complaints related to product quality, engineering quality, and overall execution and service support. Investigate issues thoroughly, implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and communicate resolutions to customers to ensure their satisfaction. Analyze customer feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement, using this information to drive enhancements in product quality and customer service. This helps build strong customer relationships and trust in ABB's commitment to quality. By addressing customer concerns proactively, the organization can enhance customer loyalty and reputation. Evaluate and monitor the quality performance of suppliers as well. •\tMaintain the following Certifications and lead internal and external Audits as needed: ISO Certification, N299 Certification, Functional Safety Management (FSM) Certification. Maintain Quality tools, quality parameters management, in process quality control, managing and reporting non-conformities and any data analysis to analyze historical data to identify process changes and establish control measures.
Qualifications for the roleBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of overall industry experience with 2+ years of experience in a Quality role. ISO Experience: Familiarity with ISO standards, particularly ISO 9001:2015.Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Lean Transformation, and Operational Excellence. Knowledge of Quality Principles.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools. Strong communication and team collaboration skills. Ability to train and mentor team members.Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or similar qualification is a plus. Ability to interface effectively with end user customers, consultants, equipment suppliers and contractors.High level understanding of control systems setups.Understanding of Business & Operations Financial KPIs and able to analyze data. Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.Full working knowledge of Lean Concepts with demonstrated success and proven ability to manage multiple change projects. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally if required for the role. This position will be in the province of Ontario, in the Burlington region.
