Job Summary
Liquid-Applied Coating Business -- Management of ASTM / FFU Compliance testing planning and execution, Quality System management, Participation in product and process improvement projects, Support new product and new raw material development via quality planning.

Essential Duties

Quality System Management and Plant Support
Liquid Applied Coatings – Quality Systems. Development and Maintenance, QSBP/PDC support, ISO-9001 QMS support.
Specification management of Finished Product, In-Process, Raw Material specifications.
QSBP Test Frequency Matrix.
Test Method Development.
Quality Manual Development and Maintenance.

Compliance Assurance
Ensure consistent ASTM / FFU compliance of all liquid applied coating products through periodic validation testing.
Maintain Compliance Monitoring Dashboards.
Lead Compliance Troubleshooting Projects with Operations, R&D, and Purchasing.
Coordinate Competitive product ASTM / FFU benchmark testing and analysis.
Validate currently approved systems for ASTM / FFU compliance.
Coordinate ASTM / FFU testing in support of development trials.
Perform field forensics to address non-warrantied installations, address pre-claim concerns, evaluate field installation problems, provide testing for pre-job installations, and provide Sales support.

Support Product Improvement & New Product Development
Coordinate ASTM / FFU testing in support of development trials.
Product performance analysis.
Collaborate with R&D on formulation improvement & development.
Participate in and support Design of Experiments (DoE) / Multi-Variable Testing (MVT) related to PI and NPD.
Support planning and review of plant trials.

Variation Reduction
Monitor Plant Process Capability measures for Key Process Variables.
Work with the applicable Operations staff to identify Best Practices, develop recommendations regarding preferred equipment, controls methodologies, and administrative controls.
Plan and coordinate the execution, data analysis, reporting and recommendations regarding variation reduction projects including Design of Experiments (DoE) / Multi-Variable Testing (MVT).

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Engineering, Chemistry, Science, or Math

Minimum 2 years of experience in management function 

Qualifications Preferred

Hands-on experience in a physical properties test lab operation and development of lab test procedures 

Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, especially roofing

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to multitask.

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work as a team player.


Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Advanced knowledge and experience with the design & application of new quality systems.

Advanced data analysis knowledge using Excel (pivot charts and tables).

Intermediate knowledge of Minitab and Tableau a plus.

Intermediate knowledge of polymer physics, chemistry, coating & calendaring equipment.

Intermediate knowledge of statistical process control methodologies.

Intermediate knowledge of multivariable analysis (DOE & MVT).

Intermediate knowledge of quality & safety tools and practices.
