This position will provide key contributions to the Quality Management System as our established Quality Systems evolve to achieve and maintain COQ objectives for the Stanley, VA plant which is a Residential Wholesale Interior Door plant.
Collaborating with Divisional and Local operations to refine systems to stabilize & refine quality performance through structured, disciplined use of tools including Lean Management Systems and Standard Work.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
The Quality Manager will be responsible for using problem-solving tools to improve plant first-time yield rates and meet the Cost of Quality objectives.
The successful candidate will be expected to characterize and measure process performance and develop specific process characterization templates.
Control plans will be developed from the templates and process controls will be put in place and audited.
The Quality Manager will also work with the Supply Chain to identify improvement opportunities related to incoming materials and will establish critical-to-quality elements to be validated at the supplier, or upon inspection and release at the manufacturing plant.
Collaborate with operations to engineer quality process improvements and conduct training as needed.
Utilize statistical and DOE tools to measure and refine process control systems.
Routinely update SOP’s, procedures and training materials to reflect a continual improvement in quality requirements.
Monitor on-going performance of systems, prioritizing actions to achieve annual commitments.
Participate in the annual Value Stream Mapping event, identifying and leading
quality projects as needed to attain COQ objectives.
Supervise and manage two hourly Quality Control Technicians.
This is a hands-on position, deploying and sustaining system improvements that
require gaining an in-depth knowledge of the production processes. It will involve
working with all aspects of the operation and will be accountable for measurable
results.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred in the Engineering field
Six Sigma or Lean GB certification highly desired
Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or Certified Quality Auditor/Engineer certification from ASQ highly desired or ability to obtain within one year.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience and understanding of a quality production environment.
+5 years’ experience operating in a QMS environment.
Basic quality system knowledge (Document Controls, process audits, SPC,
Sampling plans ANOVA, DOE, SPC).
Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills are required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong presentation and facilitation skills.
Preferred APQP Tools (FMEA, Control Plan, etc.)
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, PDCA, 5P, DMAIC, etc)
Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a
regular basis. Change agent with energy, passion, and enthusiasm
