Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Quality Management

Inspect all field construction work in progress, including work that is subcontracted, and ensure that uniformly high quality workmanship is maintained during each phase of construction. Supervise or delegate to staff as appropriate all inspection activities performed on the jobsite regardless of the day or time of performance.  Document non-conformances promptly with responsible parties and follow up to ensure that deficiencies are resolved. Prepare internal and customer required weekly and monthly quality reports. Act as liaison with customer, regulatory agencies, subcontractors and/or internal departments on quality related matters. Create and maintain all required documentation: concrete break logs, weld logs, ITP’s, turnover packages, etc. Implements quality training programs to project personnel in conjunction with Project Managers and Superintendents.

Planning

Review contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schematics to determine the nature and scope of the project, the materials and equipment to be utilized, and develop the jobsite specific quality plan and program. Develop discipline specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) Lead meetings with supervision and vendors on quality performance expectations, inspection and test requirements, and customer interfaces. Develop or review required submittals such as weld procedures, concrete mix designs, etc. to ensure conformance with specifications and required customer approvals.

Cost Performance

Eliminate rework through a timely and robust inspection process

Scheduling

Coordinate inspections and quality resource requirements with the construction plan and schedule. Manage scheduling of all quality inspections necessary to obtain customer acceptance of the work.

Relationships

Establish and maintain a good working relationship with field supervision, customer representatives, engineers, consulting firms, and other parties. Attempts to resolve problems at the lowest practical level through direct negotiations with concerned individuals. Provide administrative and technical direction to all quality personnel on project site including personnel administration and resolution of technical problems. Foster and promote the training and development of subordinates through various on-the-job training opportunities, company-sponsored training programs and outside learning opportunities such as college courses, trade seminars, and classroom instruction.

Technical

Minimum of 8 years of Quality Control experience in the industrial industry. Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) ASNT (SNT-TC-1A) Level II in one or more method: PT, UTT (thickness readings), or RTI (film interpretation) preferred or equivalent education. Engineering degree can substitute for some or all of CWI and ASNT certifications Civil, structural, mechanical, and minor electrical inspection experience required. Auditing experience preferred. Read and interpret project drawings and specifications
