Quality Manager I

While reporting to the Plant Manager, you will own the overall framework of the plant safety and quality programs, guiding the plant to a high level in both the safety and quality culture with employee ownership. You will be responsible for leading, creating, implementing, and maintaining the safety and quality programs to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for employees and experiences to our customers throughout the facility. On quality you will have a dotted line to the Senior Leader of Commercialization & Quality working to improve internal and external customer experiences.  

What you’ll be doing:

Provide hands-on management of the elements of the QMS (Quality Management System.) These include quality action plans, corrective actions, supplier quality management, customer complaints, standard work, audit processes, standard procedures, test methods, and process controls.

Ensure Business Unit systems are tied into corporate standards via reviews and audits.

Responsible for managing all change control and line validation.

Generate scorecards and reports for all aspects of plant quality, not limited to and including CARs, SCARs, on-time and in-full deliveries, SPC reporting, losses, product safety, internal, third party & customer audits and change control processes.

Act as the lead plant representative for any meetings or interactions with customers as it relates to product or service quality.

Leader of the plant quality pillar and ensuring relevant training and education of the pillar team members. Lead efforts toward continuous quality improvement initiatives within the plant.

Promote awareness of customer requirements for the plant.

Some level of travel required.

Safety Responsibilities:

Leading our one-page safety plan ensuring employee engagement in Safety Hour, Participation, R3, compliance and audit completion of LCEs, TTA and TSA audits.Leading the plant in achieving a sustainable safety culture through effective implementation of the plant’s safety processes and initiatives.Directing the activities of the Plant Safety Leadership teamFocus on risk and incident reduction through a behavior modification and observation programCoaching others on incident investigation, plant auditing, and trainingEnsuring compliance of OSHA, EPA, and GA-EPD requirements through functional knowledge of these department regulationsWorking with business unit, plant floor, and leadership teams to identify and implement safety and health improvement opportunities based on employee feedback, observations, best practices, and data trendsProviding leadership and project management for specific projects, initiatives, and business processes needed to drive safety performanceDeveloping and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelinesEnsuring adequate recordkeeping and report filing for complianceInterfacing with regulatory agencies, committee members and staff to formulate corrective actionsExecuting the plant strategic and operating plans to ensure environmental and safety compliance while improving overall operating resultsProviding urgent response to operational issues 24/7, including case management of safety incidents and environmental upset conditions.Interfacing with the corporate EH&S team to execute Sonoco initiatives and actively participating in the company-wide EH&S networkServing as an active member of the Division Safety Coordinators team, partnering with other leaders to discuss and resolve non-routine issues and challengesOther duties as required

Minimum of 7+ years working in a manufacturing setting leading quality initiatives and programs.Good analytical skillsProficient with statistical analysisProven leadership abilitiesGood verbal and written communication skillsLean six sigma experienceProficiency with Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.4-year degree in Engineering or technical disciplineASQ certifiedExperience with project managementPrevious experience working across multi functions and lines of businessProficiency with Vizio, MS Project, Share Point, SPC Software and Agile.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $80,320 to $90,360, plus a quarterly target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
