Harvest Innovations Food Safety Quality Manager – Indianola, Iowa
This is an Exempt position.
Job Summary:
This position is a leadership role within the Harvest Innovations team. The position provides proactive leadership in the development, implementation, execution, and performance of the Quality Systems to ensure products meet the quality and food safety standards. In addition to leading efforts for the plant, the position manages compliance within the quality team as the direct manager.
This position reports to the Plant Manager.
Essential Job Functions: Provides support and guidance for day to day decision making regarding quality/food safety impacts on productsSupports training activities regarding Quality and Food SafetyEstablishes goals and monitors metrics that support Quality and Food SafetyManages, plans, implements, and continuously improves programs and proceduresLeads the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) initiative and drives improvement within the plants, reducing quality and food safety related costsDevelops, implements and monitors quality verification programs within the plantsFacilitates all Quality Management Review Meetings within the plantsHolds the role of SQF PractitionerWorks with operations to ensure products meet quality and food safety standards and provides guidance as neededProvides product disposition for ready to eat products.Reports key performance indicators to Quality COE and East Plant leadership teams.Leads customer audits and other forms of customer communication requested from the plant.Leads compliance and regulatory audits.Leads a team of Quality Technicians that are responsible for the quality and food safety programs to ensure compliance with ADM, regulatory, and customer requirements.Provides quality training to new hires, contractors, and refresher training as needed and maintains training records.Maintains the food safety plans, ensures control points are being handles per the program requirements, risk assessments are accurate and up to date as the lead PCQI coordinator at the facility.Leads product recalls from the plant level with guidance from divisional resources when necessary.Manage microbiological swabbing for environmental monitoring, monitor and report results.Collaborate with the pest control provider to ensure the implementation of an effective pest control program and drive pest program improvements.Leads a team of Sanitation Technicians that are responsible for the Master Sanitation of the plant to ensure product is produced in a clean and sanitary food environment.Manages the MSS program.Develops and maintains Quality Programs.Job Qualifications:Preferred 4 year degree or equivalent 6 year Food Safety experience and PCQI trainedPrior laboratory experience / knowledge of laboratory procedures.Working knowledge of Document Management, spreadsheets, Excel and data bases.Knowledge of applicable food regulations and requirements.Ability to make decisions based on information and data available.Ability to work as a team member and provide training.
