We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new, state-of-the-art factory located in the thriving city of DeSoto, Kansas.
**Job Summary:** The Quality Metrology Technician – Level 4 supports advanced dimensional and calibration activities in a high-volume lithium-ion battery manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for conducting precision measurements, managing calibration programs, and ensuring metrology processes meet internal and external standards. Working with moderate supervision, the technician collaborates cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to support new tooling validation, capability studies, and troubleshooting dimensional discrepancies. This position also provides mentorship to junior technicians and ensures compliance with industry regulations and site-specific quality systems.
**Essential Duties:**
**Metrology & Measurement**
+ Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T to verify product and tool compliance
+ Program and operate semi-automated metrology equipment (e.g., Zeiss, Mitutoyo, or Hexagon CMMs)
+ Support GR&R studies, MSA activities, and capability analyses to ensure measurement system reliability
+ Maintain calibration records and perform internal calibrations per ISO 17025 and site standards
**Data & Analytics**
+ Analyze measurement data to identify trends, process drift, or deviations from specification
+ Use data visualization tools such as Foundry, Power BI, or Minitab to report out inspection trends and process capability
**Training & Support**
+ Train and mentor those at the same or lower level on proper measurement techniques and equipment handling
+ Provide on-the-floor guidance to operators and quality personnel on the correct use of metrology tools
+ Assist in developing SOPs, work instructions, and visual aids for inspection and calibration processes
**Quality Assurance & Compliance**
+ Ensure all measurement activities comply with applicable quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 17025)
+ Support internal and external audits by maintaining thorough, traceable calibration and inspection documentation
+ Participate in internal quality system reviews, and contribute to corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) related to metrology
+ Support proper implementation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory environments, and customer specifications
**Issue Resolution & Collaboration**
+ Lead dimensional containment activities and support root cause analysis for out-of-spec conditions
+ Collaborate with cross functional teams such as Engineering and Production to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve measurement-related quality issues in a timely manner
+ Escalate systemic measurement concerns or capability risks to the Quality Supervisor
**Other Responsibilities**
+ Ability to work all scheduled shift hours
+ Operate and maintain inspection and calibration tools within the functional area
+ Support 6S and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
+ Follow all company safety protocols and procedures, including use of required PPE
+ Suggest improvements to inspection methodology, documentation, or equipment utilization
+ No authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, reward, or discipline other employees
**Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:**
+ To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for our employees’ protection, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

**Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred**
**Education**
+ **Required:** High school diploma or GED, or 2 years of experience in metrology or related field
+ **Preferred:** Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Metrology, Quality, Engineering Technology, or a technical discipline
**Essential Qualifications**
+ 4.5+ years of experience in metrology, calibration, precision inspection, or related manufacturing role
+ Proficient in reading engineering drawings and interpreting GD&T
+ Working knowledge of CMMs, surface profilometers, and other precision metrology equipment
+ Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 17025 standards
+ Experience using data analysis or visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Foundry, Minitab)
+ Basic Python or scripting skills to support automation or reporting
+ Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes independently
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 6+ years of metrology or quality experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment (battery or automotive preferred)
+ 1–2 years of experience as a Metrology or Quality Technician – Level 3 or equivalent
+ Experience conducting MSA, GR&R, or capability studies
+ Exposure to Six Sigma or structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams)
+ Background in lithium-ion battery, electronics, or automotive manufacturing
+ Experience with calibration management software or systems

+ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) – ASQ
+ Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher preferred)
+ Internal Auditor Certification (ISO 9001 or IATF 16949)
