Quality Supervisor
Direct Placement Title: Quality Supervisor Compensation: $48,000 competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Location: Hatillo, Puerto Rico Company Description: RCM is seeking a Quality Supervisor for our client, a leading manufacturer of cardboard boxes and fiber drums in Puerto Rico, serving diverse industries including pharmaceutical, food, electronics, and agriculture. Our client serves over 500 customers across Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, delivering high-quality, reliable packaging solutions. Position Description: Quality Supervisor is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of quality assurance and quality control processes. This individual will ensure that the client products consistently meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, exceeding customer expectations. Responsibilities: + Lead and Develop Quality Team: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of Quality Control Inspectors and Technicians, fostering a strong quality culture and promoting continuous learning and professional development. + Implement and Maintain Quality Systems: Develop, implement, and keep robust Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) following industry's best practices (e.g., ISO 9001, relevant packaging standards) and company policies. + Oversee Quality Control Operations: Manage daily quality control activities, including raw material inspection, in-process monitoring, and final product testing of corrugated cardboard boxes and fiber drums. + Ensure Product Compliance: Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure all products meet established specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards for packaging (e.g., FDA regulations for food contact materials, if applicable). + Drive Continuous Improvement: Analyze quality data, identify trends, conduct root cause analysis for non-conformances, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to reduce defects and improve process efficiency. Utilize tools such as SPC (Statistical Process Control) and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. + Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance departments to proactively address quality issues, optimize manufacturing processes, and integrate quality throughout the product lifecycle. + Manage Customer Quality: Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality, ensuring timely communication and effective solutions. Maintain strong relationships with key customers about quality matters. + Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of all quality activities, including inspection records, test results, audit findings, and corrective actions. Prepare and present comprehensive quality reports to management. Qualifications: + Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in quality assurance/quality control, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably within a manufacturing environment (packaging, paper, or similar industry highly preferred). + Quality Management Systems (QMS) Expertise: Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001). + Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, motivate, and develop a team of quality professionals. + Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a data-driven approach to decision-making, including proficiency in statistical analysis and quality improvement tools (e.g., SPC, FMEA, 8D; Lean Six Sigma certification highly desirable). + Bilingual Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish (required given the location in Puerto Rico). + Technical Acumen: Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements relevant to manufacturing and packaging. + Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with quality management software. + Industry Knowledge (Plus): Familiarity with packaging industry standards and regulations is a significant plus. Education / Certifications: + Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field; or equivalent experience. + Relevant quality certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001) are a plus.
