Quality Systems Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide technical support to all areas of the plant in assessment, implementation and maintenance of Quality systems that meet or exceed customer’s and industry IATF 16949:2016 standards.  Lead formal problem-solving activities.  Facilitate continuous improvement in product quality, cost, and customer satisfaction.  Ensure quality of products through engineering and statistical practices to maintain and improve manufacturing process controls.  Must be able to work with all plant disciplines, customers, and suppliers.  Individual needs to be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work well with others.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Interface with process engineering, manufacturing plants and customers on new product/process launches Responsible for PPAP process Develop, maintain, and improve documents in accordance with internal standards, Customer Specific Requirement and IATF requirements Assist in the development of process flow diagrams; control plans and inspection, gage and operator instructions, conduct gage R&R studies, prepare and supervise containment activities Perform quality audits, evaluate trends, and support corrective action activities Interface with suppliers to coordinate action on failure issues on parts and services Develop data handling process to efficiently retrieve, store, and analyze data Provide support and knowledge of Quality Systems to plant personnel Conduct statistical analysis Provide training in quality systems and methods Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks, and applicable work instructions. Support and adhere to EH&S policies and procedures Participate in customer visits Coordinate and participate in PPAP production runs Provide technical knowledge to production area as well as all support quality, engineering, and other departments

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Must be degreed. 5+ years’ experience in the automotive industry or equivalent of combination of education and experience Experience with IATF 16949:2016, AIAG Core Tools Specific customer learned requirements for FORD include, Good computer skills Good written and oral communications skills Must be able to work under minimal supervision WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, computers, telephones, desks, temperature controlled. Manufacturing environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, machine/equipment noise, some welding exhaust, non-controlled temperatures, and PPE required. Some travel which could include an overnight stay. Must be able to work at the supplier’s facility as needed Must be able to change work pace as needed in response to customer or plant needs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit frequently for extended periods of time. Ability to move about the plant in both the office and manufacturing areas. Ability to travel occasionally. Manual dexterity for computer work. Ability to communicate in an effective manner. Must be able to visit customers on short notice as the needs arise Must be able to work a flexible work schedule Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
