Quality Technician- 1st Shift

The Quality Technician (QT) is to perform inspections/ product audits in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions and work with operations and engineering to ensure the products meet customer requirements.

Complete part inspections promptly and ensure that the results of those inspections are accurate.Review all non-conforming measurement results to ensure the accuracy of the measurement result and determine a path forward (rerun, resub, calibrate, contain). Escalate non-conformances when necessary to operations, engineering, and quality engineers.Utilize the sign-in/sign-out process for lab submissions to ensure records of inspections are maintained.Transport test products to CMM technicians for additional inspectionApprove the first pieces as per the established processDetermine the conformance of suspect material/products.Review suspect material against documented acceptance criteria and determine suitability for use.Maintain and monitor all quarantine and Material Review Board (MRB) areasParticipate in the containment process of suspect materialWork in tandem with operations to ensure all suspect material is identified in accordance with documented procedures, support completion of back purgesEnsure potential non-conformances are communicated to quality, engineering, and operations.Perform the re-inspection of all reworked parts in accordance with documented procedures.Perform process auditsParticipate in the LPA process as requiredPerform product audits as required to complete production, pre-production, and problem parts.Participate in Gage R&R and capability studies as requiredOperate testing equipment as required (tensile tester, other) and compile results, e.g. mechanical properties Requirements

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Knowledge of quality systems, documentation, and concepts.Exposure to inspection, measurement, and testing methods and equipmentKnowledge of quality statistics such as SPC and capability.Excellent follow-through on quality activities.Effective human relations skills, including good listening ability and the capability to work within teams.Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Minitab.


Education and/or Experience

One year minimum of Quality experience.High School Diploma or equivalency (HSED or GED).


Physical Demands

Standing and walking, occasionally for long periods, within manufacturing facilitiesSitting and typing at a computerOften required to pick up and handle parts (more than 20 lbs.)Required to look at parts and see processes/operationsThis position requires lifting moderately heavy items such as parts and/or equipment, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stopping.


Work Environment

Office and factory including risks that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around operating machines, handling of hazardous testing chemicals, automobile and airplane travel.Protective clothing or gear such as safety glasses/goggles, gloves, and shoes may be required.
