Quality Specialist

Your role and responsibilities

Leadership: Perform incoming inspections and testing on parts (i.e.: breakers, PCBs, harness, etc.) from suppliers.Utilizes measurement systems (CMM, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.) to produce data that reflect the accurate characteristics of materials, products, systems, and processes.Create dimensional reports, test, and inspection reports per part specifications including variation results and/or SPC through the help of physical and virtual tools. Diagnostic and repair electronic or electric parts, if needed and approved by management. Ensure suppliers test reports are uploaded into ABB portals and collect the data to build SPC to promote predictive results.Investigate and trouble-shoot product defects or failures in-house or from the customer field to determine root cause and suggest corrective actions through 8D or DMAIC methodology. Provides feedback and advises engineering / R&D on improvement opportunities in product and/or process design.Process nonconformance material and work with the Supplier Quality Engineers so that supplier corrects their processes or ABB adjust specifications. Evaluate suppliers’ documentation (i.e. dimensional reports) vs. physical deliveries to ensure consistency.Assists SQE staff to develop test protocols, work instructions, or checklist as necessary to investigate the integrity of new products, or new functionality for existing products. Assists specific quality-related training, promoting passion for Quality, integrity in all the actions, and results orientation.Assurance: Audit and ensure compliance with 5S in incoming inspection process and given targets. Acquires and reports in an accurate and timely manner on Quality metrics for incoming inspection and ensure the Quality Management System is adhered to at all stages. Provide feedback, suggest, and implement actions to ensure achieving of incoming inspection targets and Quality Management System. Escalate to Quality organization the cases that represent a safety or quality concern.Knowledge Skills: Read and understand drawings of mechanical parts. Be able to read specifications for electronic parts such as gerber, drawings, diagram, test specifications, Bill Of Material (BOM), etc. Metrology systems and variations or concerning trends in measurements that could lead to potential future deviations on the supplier parts due to out-of-control processes. Electronic/Electric technical systems and test protocols including the use of electrical test equipment such as coordinate measuring machines (CMM), multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies for reliability of test outcomes.Quality system and its tools such as 8D. Perform routine audits such as 5S to ensure the conformance of processes or products and use established procedures, standards, checklists, and specifications to ensure quality system maintenance.Verify that testing performed by other teams is completed in a full and timely manner as a part of the specified control plans.Utilizes safety systems to perform work, resulting in an accident-free workplace. Notifies others when unsafe situations are observed and works with local HSE teams to improve the safety systems

Qualifications for the role

Experience in inspecting mechanical, electric and electronic partsMinimum 3 to 4 years of experience in quality/manufacturing environments.Computer and Microsoft Office package skills. Especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Experience working with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and basic knowledge in metrology.Ability to set-up and use electronic test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies) preferred. Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
