Job Title: Quality Technician, entry level Fallon, NV Full-time, 40 hours/week. Monday-Friday dayshift.
Job Summary: This position works closely with manufacturing, materials group, engineering, and other quality personnel to measure and to assess the quality of various products manufactured at Kennametal Fallon Plant. The position will be trained to perform visual, physical, dimensional, and chemical inspections of various products and to operate analytical test equipment in the QA Lab. Assigned duties will support quality management and safety systems, ISO work instructions, statistical analysis, and gage calibration.
Job Description Role and Responsibilities Perform dimensional, visual, physical, and chemical inspections of products at various stages of manufacturing process to ensure compliance with established quality specifications and reliability standards. Operate analytical equipment used for material inspection. Record results of inspections and compile data as required. Calibrate gages and equipment; maintain gage calibration system. Read, create, maintain procedures, work instructions, figures, forms, and other documents. Provide other Quality Assurance support functions as assigned by the Quality Manager. Qualifications and Education Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Quality Testing, SPC (Statistical Process Control), communication skills, and basic computer skills. Must be able to use the required software including but not limited to SAP and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Able to read and follow various work instructions, control documents, routings, and operating procedures. Able to properly use or learn to use and be proficient in the use of all gages and devices that determine compliance to product specifications and drawing tolerances. Legible handwriting. Good writing, grammar, and communication skills. Preferred Skills and experience 1-3 years of experience preferred or must be able to demonstrate ability to learn. Has been in a laboratory environment, understands basic use of a microscope and lab equipment. Great attention to detail. Has working knowledge and skills to perform a defined sets of analytical/scientific methods and operational processes. Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise and training.
