Job Description

Responsible for specific aspects of Quality Assurance testing and lab procedures as assigned.  Requires a basic understanding of the blow molding processes; the ability to understand and follow basic testing practices and guidelines; the ability to recognize quality problems; and the ability to perform measurements and testing on lab equipment provided. 

Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Abides by all Amcor’s Safety and Quality policies and procedures.  Ability to understand and use the testing equipment and procedures required to accomplish the goals of the QA department within the area of responsibility.  To demonstrate this ability, the individual must be able to understand and explain the function and or operation of any lab equipment used, and show a basic understanding of the process parameters and product specifications required.Demonstrates organizational ability to complete daily assignments.Has a basic knowledge of preform, as well as bottle/pallet defects including both visual and non-visual problems.  Must know the correct procedure to follow to alert management of potential problems to assure that defective product or raw material is not used or shipped to the customer.  Has the authority to stop production due to quality issues.Has the authority to stop machines/production to communicate issues to QA Manager, Supervisor, and Lead.Has a basic understanding of blow molding process.Understands SPC software and is able to interpret quality data and statistics.Maintains housekeeping of assigned area.  Housekeeping may also involve clean up of other areas of the Plant, as required by the Supervisor/Manager.Applies/enforces Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP requirements to meet plant goals.Communicates effectively verbally and in writing with customers (both internal and external) regarding quality issues.Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook and as trained during the various safety-related training programs.  Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers/Supervisors.  Properly uses all required personal protective equipment.Performs other quality-related functions as requested by the Quality Assurance Manager.

Job Specifications and Requirements:

Requires high school diploma or equivalent.   Some post-secondary education preferred (i.e.,Technical or vocational education).Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Other Requirements:

Valid forklift license based on job duties.Ability to recognize and understand numbers, values, and enters this information into an on-line database accurately.  A strong mathematical ability is essential.Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.Ability to read and write in English.Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software.Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand/walk on concrete floor.  Ability to climb stairs/ladders.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
