Quality Technician II
**Job Summary** Under the supervision of the QA Manager, be responsible for running both routine and non-routine tests on in-process samples, finished product, ingredients, and manufacturing supplies to determine the quality and acceptability of each material. Responsible for storing and evaluating samples in compliance with the sample retain program. Responsible for maintaining appropriate records of analyses and informing supervisory and production personnel of any non- conforming product, in processing material and ingredients. **Duties and Responsibilities:** **Production Area** + Conduct audits of production areas to ensure GMP compliance. + Maintains documentation of all products produced for purposes of traceability. + Initiates quality holds where necessary. + Documents production paperwork dealing with quality and food safety information. + Swab production lines for cleanliness. + Perform tests to ensure compliance with Company product specifications. + Calibrates quality equipment (e.g. thermometers) used in support of production. + Executes hold actions and disposition for substandard product. + Support continuous improvement initiatives in all areas of the plant. + Provide constant and consistent quality leadership to production operators. + Special projects and other duties as assigned. + Willing to work 1st or 3rd shift **Lab Area** + Perform analysis on finished product and raw meat samples according to plan of control and record information to assure that finished goods and in-process samples are in compliance to all specifications. + Enter analysis results into database and analyze recorded information to determine any trends. + Perform required environmental tests. + Perform audits on equipment, materials, products and procedures to assure that the lab is in compliance based on Lab Excellence standards. + Maintain the laboratory in a clean, safe and orderly manner on a daily basis. + Manage documentation for the Supplier Complaint program. + Manage documentation for incoming ingredients and materials. **Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:** + Minimum 6 months experience in a manufacturing facility (Food Processing, Packing or QA/Laboratory preferred). + Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills. + Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety issues. + Ability to work with little supervision in a fast paced environment. + Basic Skills necessary for using e-mail, Microsoft Word and Excel, plus SAP and Sample Management software. + Ability to understand specifications and recognize product quality issues. + Ability to effectively communicate deviations from quality standards to appropriate personnel. + Competency in process auditing and inspection. **Physical Requirements** While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
