Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, the Quality Technologist will be responsible for creating and developing project testing plans. The Quality Technologist will be responsible to ensure accuracy, in regard to the quality scope and product testing, through the life cycle of Powell’s project, including the quotation phase, project entry, inspection, project closeout and post-sales support. The Quality Technologist will be expected to participate and provide expertise in Root Cause Analysis and well as process improvement.
Essential Responsibilities
Review and understand Customer Quality Specifications providing acceptance, additional budget requirements and exceptions to both Estimating and Project Management at the Quote and Project Entry stage. Create Inspection Test Plans per agreed specifications between Powell and the Customer. Maintain a thorough knowledge of Powell’s Quality System to ensure test plans are in accordance. Create detailed Test Plans (internal and external), when required for Specialty Testing such as BIL (Basic Insulation level), PD (partial discharge) & Heat Run (temperature rise test). Create and modify Quality Plans for customers. Provide technical support on Warranty inquiries. Review, provide feedback and approve Vendor submitted test plans for Major Buyout Equipment (HVAC, LV MCC, Transformers, etc.). Attend, as needed, Vendor Factory Acceptance Tests Work closely with inspectors and/other departments to provide result orientated technical solutions for troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Set the example for team members on expectations, accountability and attitude. Lead special projects, as required.Minimum Qualifications
Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or Engineering Degree preferred. Strong electrical understanding and aptitude of 600V to 38kV systems.Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements
