Quality/Test Engineer Job Number: 354201 Category: Quality Engineering Description: Job Title: Quality/Test Engineer Location: Peoria, IL Zip Code: 61629 Start Date: Right Away Job Type: Contract Pay Rate: Starting at $37.43/hr Keywords: #QualityTestEngineer #EngineeringJobs JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Support product development at Peoria Proving Grounds by testing engine software, electrical systems, prototype and pilot hardware and engine-to-machine interactions. * Will serve as an individual contributor executing validation activities that support and enhance product performance, durability, reliability, quality, and serviceability. * Responsible for performing on-machine engine software and validation activities for both New Product Introduction development and current product enhancements/Continuous Product Improvement resolution. * Plan and execute testing of electronic and software systems prior to delivery of software to the engine factory or updates to the field. * Validate that new products and updated products meet engineering requirements. * Apply knowledge of engines, electrical systems and mechanical systems to perform troubleshooting of malfunctioning components and systems for machine engines * Collaborate in cross-functional global teams that include other engineers, technologists, mechanics, instrumentation technicians, operators, and logisticians in a collaborative team environment to complete complex tasks safely, with the highest quality, while meeting project schedules and budgets. * Learn the fundamentals of machine equipment operation through on-the-job training. * Verification/Validation Engineers in this role are fully engaged in both electrical and mechanical systems activity through a technical awareness of the components, systems and software which they test * Analyze test results and summarize conclusions * Communicate & track product development issues * Communicate technical information to team members and other business units * Requires a deep-rooted diesel engine technical and systems expertise and experience * Routinely work in challenging environmental conditions, including heat, humidity, extreme cold and dust. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor"s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other accredited engineering curriculum OR * Associates with 7+ years" experience OR * Master Degree * 4+ years of engineering experience. * 3+ years of experience engine system integration, and/or A&I or product support field experience * Hands on mechanical experience, familiarity and comfort with engine disassembly and assembly * Hands on electrical/electronic system troubleshooting expertise. * Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, manage change, and communicate effectively. * Demonstrated capability and passion for software testing, troubleshooting, mechanical repair and problem resolution. * Willingness to routinely work in challenging environmental conditions, including heat, humidity, extreme cold and dust. * Must demonstrate hands-on mechanical experience, familiarity and comfort with engine disassembly and assembly. * Must demonstrate hands-on electrical/electronic system troubleshooting expertise. * Requires a deep-rooted diesel engine technical and systems expertise and experience * Must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience with SuperComm 2, Cadet, CANape and electrical system troubleshooting is highly desired. * In depth knowledge of engine and engine aftertreatment system components and control strategies (e.g. DPF and SCR components, common rail fuel injection and ERG systems). * Demonstrated expertise in operation and fault modes of: electronic sensors, actuators & other inductive loads, classic controls methods (e.g. PID), communication networks (e.g. J1939/CAN/Ethernet), test automation, and instrumentations & data collection tools * Experience in product development, engine performance/platform experience, machinery and equipment, vehicle testing, or mechanical components and systems * Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships across global cultures with coworkers. * An eye for detail and ability to spot emerging issues or failures in components and systems. * Self-starter with strong computer skills with the ability to multitask different software applications simultaneously to optimize and deliver desired results under challenging requirements Benefits: * Medical / Health Benefits with multiple plan options, Flexible Spending Accounts, Dental and Vision / glasses / prescription contact lens and eye test options available. * On the job training / cross-training to develop and expand skills, creating opportunity for advancement and personal development.
