In collaboration with our academic partners, we produce data-driven indicators, tools, and original research that is frequently published in academic and practitioner journals.

In close collaboration with our team of market strategists, our research business has a track record of helping the world’s largest institutional investors solve complex problems, manage investment risk, and enhance portfolio performance.

Our client base includes the world’s most sophisticated institutional investors, spanning real-money asset managers and hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds, pensions, central banks, and others. In APAC, State Street Global Markets have offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Singapore, Seoul, Sydney, Taipei, and Tokyo.

The Quantitative Researcher, State Street Associates APAC (AVP) role will bring our global SSA research offerings in front of our APAC clients. In collaboration with senior team members, you will responsible for supporting research projects, growing the impact of our Global Markets research brand, and supporting client engagement in the APAC region.

The role is based in Hong Kong and reports to the Head of State Street Associates APAC.

The team you will be joining is a part of State Street Global Markets (SSGM). When owners and managers of institutional assets need research, trading, securities lending and innovative portfolio strategies, they turn to SSGM business unit. As our investment research and trading arm, SSGM’s number one goal is to enhance and preserve our clients’ portfolio values by applying technology, optimizing trading, and linking asset classes and markets across the world.

What you will be responsible for

As Quantitative Researcher at State Street Associates APAC, you will

Run quantitative analyses and contribute to the conception, design, and implementation of research projects especially in the context of APAC-related opportunities.

Support client relationships in partnership with GM APAC sales teams, representing our full suite of research offerings with enthusiasm and expert-level knowledge.

Provide exceptional client service in response to inquiries, support high-priority bespoke client projects in collaboration with other research analysts, and customize research offerings to meet local market demands.

Develop a highly effective working knowledge of State Street’s businesses as relevant to research, forge productive collaborations across the company, and maintain a robust environment of processes and controls in support of our objectives for the research business.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking highly motivated candidates with exceptional quantitative skills and presentation skills, and a desire to engage with clients and colleagues as a research expert. Requirements include:

Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a related discipline, with strong demonstrated quant/coding/analytical abilities.

At least 3 years of experience in a quantitative research role. Robust knowledge of financial markets, investment strategy analysis, portfolio theory, statistical analysis, economic concepts.

Relevant local language skills / multilingual is a plus
