The Opportunity 

Responsible for the commercial and financial outcomes of the project or multiple projects.  Working in Fit Out across both Public and Private sector schemes in London and the Home Counties.

What you will be doing 

Contribute to project scope and design from a commercial aspect identifying and maximising opportunities while minimising risks Provide detailed advice to Project Lead on contract conditions and escalating any issues that require expert legal advice; manage resolution of any contractual issues and/or disputes Influence and project procurement strategy and devise suitable procurement routes for supply chain Lead procurement, negotiation and letting of complex sub-contracts Ensure implementation of site-based cost control processes for prelims, sub contract and at client level including variation management and main contract obligations Implement commercial management procedures in line with Paragon’s standard procedures for day-to-day applications for payment, procurement, cost reports, audit trails, site activity records, etc. Provide comprehensive and reliable CVRs, external and internal cash flow forecasts for project, monitoring results and interpreting reason for deviation Set up processes to identify and manage risks and opportunities and lead comprehensive and detailed risk and opportunity reviews for project and propose, implement, manage and monitor risk management strategies Contribute towards overall project programme and EOT awards Ensure the accurate recording and submission of claims in respect of delay and loss/expense Audit commercial information and assess that work undertaken has been valued correctly Undertake detailed review and analysis of cost plans for complex projects, including full measurements and rating exercises Produce and issue payment notices Promoting the Paragon brand to clients, subcontractors and consultants

What we will need from you 

Detailed understanding and proven ability implement and guide others in the implementation of Paragon’s standard Commercial and Operational company documentation and procedures for all day-to-day applications for payment, procurement, cost reports, etc Proven ability and confident in dealing with a wide range of issues relating to financial management, cost control, contracts, contract documentation, reporting mechanisms Able to interpret information contained in a programme and use progress records to assist with the assessment and recording of contractual progress Proven ability and confident in procuring subcontractors across all packages using a variety of procurement routes Up-to-date knowledge of current market rates/prices Understanding commercial significance of project risks and opportunities based on wide project experience Able to easily detect and interpret trends in financial information Able to deal with a range of common contractual provisions such as bonds, guarantees, warranties, insurances, letters of intent, etc. Proven ability of effectively operating a change management procedure Detailed understanding of a wide range of design solutions, complex construction methods and packages based on wide range of project experience Able to easily visualise complex drawings and supervise complete measurement of scheme Able to prepare, forecast, analyse and interpret in detail costs vs budget to assess direct works performance Able to prepare, monitor and control final costs against targets/budgets, while taking full account of changes Proven ability to communicate effectively using appropriate methods and channels to share information and knowledge with a wide range of different audiences Able to conduct negotiations on a range of issues on large and/or complex projects to secure acceptable commercial results Proven track record in successfully avoiding formal disputes while maintaining commercial advantage Proven ability of regularly drafting contractual and commercially sensitive correspondence, documents and compiling project reports from raw data and advise on key issues Experience of having successfully delivered three or four projects as Project QS from start to finish, of increasing size and complexity while managing small teams of Assistant QS and QS; Experience of having run more than one project of up to £20m at a time; Experience of having worked across a wide range of forms of contracts, including JCT and NEC Experience of having worked in different locations, inner city, rural, international Champions Paragon values and acts in line with those values Confident negotiator using a wide range of techniques to deliver commercial results Inspires confidence in commercial knowledge, abilities and judgement Entrepreneurial mind-set with strong profit focus Adopts methodical and analytical approach when solving problems Risk aware based on extensive project experience Takes responsibility for own and their team’s actions Remains calm under pressure Politically astute Leads by example
