Aviva Canada is seeking a progressive and dedicated Head of Developer Surety. This is a dynamic market-facing role, and will be responsible for developing the underwriting policies, processes, guidelines and authorities of Developer Surety on a National basis which is worth $72M GWP.
You will collaboratively lead a team of Surety colleagues to execute on the strategy and ensure consistency and quality of the underwriting for the MGA. In addition, you will develop and craft new improvements and solutions for the residential building segment. You will lead all aspects of the Home Warranty portfolio and work collaboratively with our Surety Leaders and CTU, to find the best forward-thinking solutions for our customers and brokers.

What you’ll do
Responsible for the overall management of the developer surety footprint across Canada, distributed through Managing General Agents (MGA’s) including but not limited to:
Underwriting decisions outside of MGA authority
Managing our Home Warranty solutions in a resourceful and balanced manner
Collaborative Stakeholder/Partner management
Outstanding development of new creative product opportunities in the residential development space
Underwriting analytics
Portfolio management
You will work alongside the Surety team members to ensure outstanding administration of risks and policies are accurate, efficient and timely.
Proactively ensure developer surety adheres to Aviva’s Risk and Control Framework
What you’ll bring
University degree; Accounting designation an asset
Broad knowledge of business, development, construction, finance and risk management.
5 years of proven experience working with financial statements, preferably for public and large private companies
Strong focus on providing analytics and reports to support credit granting decisions would also be desirable.
Outstanding knowledge of credit analytics for public companies
Ability to build trust & credibility with both internal & external stakeholders and partners.
Strong strategic thinker and problem solver
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong and driven ability to multi-task and deal with conflicting priorities
Passion and enthusiasm for the surety line of business
