R&D Analytical Scientist

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Analytical Chemist to design and conduct analytical research projects aimed at characterizing and scientifically valorizing complex aromatic natural extracts. He/she will be joining a dynamic team of 20+ scientists in a multicultural environment.

Is responsible for complex analytical projects from experimental design to completion, to be done individually or by othersHas successfully developed analytical methods using bioinformatics, data processing and chemometrics,Has a good knowledge of Complex Aromatic Natural Substances and their chemical composition,  Contributes to the R&D Analytical and Sensory team activities and communication, in an interdisciplinary team environment.


Responsibilities:  

Develop and optimize analytical methods to investigate the volatile and the non-volatile fractions of natural raw materials and extracts, using the capabilities available on site (GC-FID/MS, GC-MS/MS, LC-UV/MS, GC-MS/O…) or elsewhere at IFF (HRMS…).Reviews scientific literature, conducts experiments, analyzes data, creates reports, and makes presentations to team and colleagues, transforms data into usable information and makes recommendationsWorks in close collaboration with other teams in the department, other analytical units of IFF and the various international analytical hubs.Identify and develop a network of analytical subcontractors and collaborations with research laboratories to explore the new trends in analytical chemistry (“omics” approach, molecular network…) to support strategic R&D programs on Naturals Develop or assist with the development of new product and application literature, including technical reports, invention disclosures, and patentsParticipates in day-to-day lab activities and preventive and/or corrective maintenance of analytical systems and in the development, implementation and improvement of the IFF Quality Management System 



Requirements

PhD (or equivalent)3+ years of experiennce in the field of targeted and untargeted chemical analyses

Robust skills in chemical analysis of natural products (qualitative / quantitative, targeted / untargeted)Effective communication in French and English (verbal and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and drive cross-functional projectsInnovation and proactive mindsetAbility to work in full autonomy and to collaborate effectively in a positive attitudeProblem solving skills and collaborative spirit
