Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a R&D Engineer at ABB Oy, Marine and Ports in Vuosaari, Helsinki.In this position, you will be working in Marine Propulsion technology. Your main responsibility will be structural analysis related to development initiatives in close co-operation with internal and external stakeholders. Azipod® propulsion is a gearless steerable propulsion system where the electric drive motor is in a submerged pod outside the ship hull. Azipod® units can rotate 360 degrees to increase maneuverability and operating efficiency. We offer the possibility to work with and develop state-of-the-art technology and lead the way for successful business in a truly global environment.You will be mainly accountable for•Structural analysis related to dedicated Azipod technology R&D initiatives •Creating technical documentation•Active prioritization and coordination of parallel tasks with different stakeholders•Working in close co-operation with other mechanical, electrical, hydrodynamic analysis and structural analysis specialists•Occasional traveling is required, to meet customers and suppliers

Qualifications for the role

At least M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineeringProven structural analysis and FEA software skills. Ideally, you have experience of NX and Teamcenter softwareAbility to read manufacturing drawingsA collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with strong communication skills. Good English is mandatory for the positionSelf-driven and motivated by challenges Organized way of working and willingness to take responsibility+3 years of experience in structural analysisBackground in marine industry is appreciatedYou preferably have understanding of classification society rules
