Job Title

R&D Engineer I (Materials for Extreme Environments)

As the R&D Engineer, you will provide engineering support to material, product, and process development programs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision, assist in conducting engineering experiments on new materials, products, processes and/or procedures.Participate in projects to optimize and improve existing materials, products, processes and/or procedures.Assist with project plan development, execution and reporting activities to support CoorsTek project management activities.Assist with documenting work instructions and procedures.Operate process and test equipment per existing procedures.Exercise hands-on responsibility for assigned processing and/or analytical equipment.Work collaboratively under the guidance of more senior engineers with the Operations and Commercial sectors of the company.Participate in the company’s safety culture and continuous improvement efforts.Undertake training to develop skills.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Powder processing experience highly preferred.Familiarity with Nitride and Carbide ceramics highly preferred.General understanding of thermal and mechanical failure of ceramics highly preferred.Sound basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics and engineering science.Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.Organized, detail-oriented person necessary.Team player.Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Position Specific Physical Requirements:

Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment in designated areas.This role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as part of the essential job functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to perform these functions.

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 80,532.00 - USD 106,303.00
