Job Summary:
Under limited supervision of the Product Development Manager and Product Development Supervisor, perform all activities associated with conveyor design engineering. This individual will work in the Product Engineering department. The job will include engineering material handling equipment and subsystems. This may include close interaction with project teams in a positive and focused manner to realize productive results. Clear inter-departmental communication is necessary, as are occasional customer discussions. The individual must provide accurate and high-quality work with minimal supervision. He or she must be self-motivated, proactive, and able to facilitate the daily requirements of our business operations relative to our customer’s needs. Responsibilities:
Work independently to prepare technical drawings and bills of materials.Exhibits the ability to document and communicate newly created Product Engineering documentation in a standardized manner that is clear, professional, and easily understood by the target audience.Support Standards and Product Enhancement Engineers with assembly of prototypes, testing, demo loop maintenance, product maintenance, and ECN’s.Support other departments within Fortna Conveyor such as Product Development, Project Management, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, Installation, Software Engineering, Lifetime Services, etc., and others as assigned or requested.Ability to understand the business aspect of the design process and how the quality of design and the quantity of hours spent designing affect the profit and loss of the companyDemonstrates a solid understanding of the basic principles of mechanical machine design. The ability to work with mechanical drive systems, pneumatics, CAD, and ERP systems is required.Develop and conduct equipment testing procedures.Ability to work independently on product maintenance tasks. Work will be directed by Standards Engineers.Exhibits the ability to document and communicate newly created design drawings, structures, horsepower spreadsheets, indexes and application drawings in a standardized manner that is clear, professional, and easily understood by the target audience. The documentation must be professional and consistent with existing product standards documentation.Effectively plan and manage daily tasks with time critical awareness.Complete temporary assignments as required.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of mechanical or design engineering experience is preferredMust be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and ExcelMust be mechanically inclined and be able to make unsupervised field trips to work on conveyors. Trips may require off hours, and/or weekend availability due to customer needs.Other Qualifications Desired:
Experience with:Inventor or other 3D CAD systemsVaultDesign and implementation of material handling systems.The base salary range for this role is $66,100 to $99,200. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
