The purpose of this internship is to provide an Intern with direct experience and understanding related to the technology and medical application of electrochemical sensors.  This work will provide support for characterization and large-scale testing of electrochemical sensors as a component of developing clinical instrumentation.   Werfen hires students majoring in Engineering and Life Sciences fields into this internship program based on business need.  Ideal candidates will combine technical knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities. 

Responsibilities

Position Description

In a research and development laboratory setting, the Intern will perform preparation and installation of consumables and reagents required for medical instrumentation, analysis of clinical blood samples, quality control assessment, related data analysis, and preparation of reports.  A senior scientific mentor will provide the Intern with required training regarding the instrumentation and consumable product line.  We expect the intern to gain in-depth knowledge of the product and its associated processes, to participate and present in team meetings, and to attend weekly department meetings with the larger group.  The Intern will be trained on and expected to perform the required operational tasks and workflow in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory environment with proper biosafety technique and personal protective equipment.
