Position Purpose As an R&D Lab Technician at Sleep Number, you will deliver specialized technical support for new product development and strategic continuation engineering initiatives. The R&D Lab Technician role encompasses expertise in electromechanical testing, prototype fabrication, troubleshooting, and the effective utilization of proprietary laboratory equipment to ensure innovation. Primary Responsibilities Lab Operations & Testing + Conduct standard lab tests in the R&D lab environment. + Compile and maintain test reports, procedures, prototype requests, equipment specification, equipment warranty data, service and maintenance logs. + Assist others in conducting performance testing of electromechanical assemblies using test instrumentation. + Maintain R&D test lab supplies to support electrical and mechanical test needs. + Assist others with design validation & verifications along with reliability/durability testing for new products both before and after product launches. + Perform periodic maintenance, calibration & repair of test equipment. + Develop fixtures & prototypes to test competitive products and evaluate performance. Position Requirements + Two-year technical degree in engineering technology or equivalent area of study. + 2+ years of relevant experience in an R&D test lab, specifically an electro-mechanical lab test and development environment. + Experience conducting design validation & verification tests. + Experience with mechanical and textile testing (compression/tensile, load, spring rate, etc.) + Experience with PLC programming and common data acquisition systems. + Experience in electronics (PCBA) assemblies is a plus. + Must be able to lift, with or without accommodation, up to 50 lbs.; team lift of up to 100 lbs. + Excellent trouble-shooting skills. Working Conditions and Schedule + This position requires onsite work at Sleep Number’s headquarters in Minneapolis + Standard business hours, Monday-Friday, with evening or weekend support as needed Hourly Pay Range: $30.05 -$37.10 Wellbeing Wellbeing is more than a catchphrase - it's a movement that permeates our company and through our team members.
