R&D Mechanical/Automation Engineer or System Engineer (Subsea Engineer)

Position Summary

 

Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving engineering problems during the development and application of new and improved products and processes. Establishes best practices that incorporate Reliability, Health, Safety, and Environment concepts to guide others in analysis and design. Evaluates proposed theoretical results to meet design requirements. Serves as a technical expert to other employees to solve complex system equations and develops custom equations to simplify complex problems by using advanced engineering tools. Serves as a technical expert by coaching, developing, and reviewing work from other employees. Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross- disciplinary teams. Significantly contributes to Halliburton’s Intellectual Property portfolio by delivering innovative and commercially successful solutions. Work across multiple teams located in different countries (Brazil, US, Singapore, India). Work close to the Mechanical Engineering team, Systems Engineer, and the Project Manager at the Halliburton Technology Center in Brazil (HBTC).

 

Requirements

 

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline. Completion of a master’s or doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline is preferred. 5 years of experience in R&D is preferred. Experience in design of complex systems solutions including several engineering disciplines for Oil & Gas, mining and/or aerospace industry. Experience in designing solutions for subsea applications and well control involving multiple disciplines. Experience in designing solutions for well intervention applications involving multiple disciplines. Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers as needed. Experience defining requirements and reviewing proposals from third party (manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers). Knowledge and experience in Risk Assessment, FMEA, other reliability tools. Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks and Ansys (CAD and FEA). Advanced knowledge to apply principles of mechanics (static and dynamic), hydraulics, and materials. Experience in mechanical design, fluid mechanics, structural analysis, and/or material science. Knowledge and working experience in oil field equipment. Knowledge in designing system automation using robotics is desirable.
