DuPont has an immediate opening for an experienced R&D Pad Lab Technician at our Newark-Bellevue, DE site.

DuPont Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) Technology group is seeking a R&D Pad Lab Technician in Pad R&D team located in Newark, DE. The candidate will work in R&D polymer lab and provide technical support to multidisciplinary teams in the development of new CMP pad technology. It is expected that this role would include working with scientists, engineers, and technologists in a team-based environment to complete daily tasks and drive projects to successful completion. Ideal candidate will have laboratory experience in addition to good interpersonal and organization skills. Candidates should enjoy working in a high performing team, be comfortable with lab equipment, and adept at using software interface platforms.

Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:​

Working safely in a R&D environment, actively participating in company safety programs. Generating and maintaining documentation for the safe and productive operation of equipment and tools. Completes training and administrative requirements timely and efficiently. 

Chemical material preparation and polymer synthesis. Executing designed bench experiments under scientist’s direction for R&D, customer troubleshooting, and manufacturing problem solving.

Laboratory equipment set-up, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.  Equipment and instruments include ventilation hood, local exhaust ventilation system, ovens, mold, vacuum pump, and mixers.

Maintain lab supply inventory, and properly handle and dispose of hazardous wastes. 

Generating and summarizing data, maintaining electronic databases, and documenting results in laboratory notebooks and reports. Generating and maintaining SOPs for the safe and efficient operation of equipment.   

Interacting in a professional manner with R&D, quality, and manufacturing teams.

Your qualifications profile:

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous experience working in a wet lab environment.

Previous experience in fume hood or ventilated enclosures.

Previous knowledge of chemical safety protocols and PPE.

Independent problem solving, strong attention to detail, and safety-oriented attitude.

Good computer skills with the ability to learn new software. Experience with software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently with limited guidance from a supervisor.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple projects.

Must be willing and able to work in such environments wearing safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes. 

Must be willing and able to wear a respirator.

Must be willing and able to work in such environments working in tight or closed-in spaces.

Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or associate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science, or related field.

Good understanding of polymer chemistry and lab equipment.

Previous lab experience in R&D settings for chemical reactions and material synthesis.

Previous experience operating analytical equipment, such as FT-IR, GPC, etc.
