Position Summary As a Pilot Plant Technician you will provide key support to Research & Development by assisting with pilot scale product trials, supporting process development and production scale up for new and improved product innovations. The right candidate is a self-starter who works well with their hands, develops a deep understanding of the equipment and process, and can collaborate with a team of scientists and peers to deliver consistent products for this fast-paced business. You will also develop strong relationships with cross-functional partners and have experience with standard work procedures and chemical safety in a lab setting. Responsibilities Thorough understanding of the job safety requirements and proper safety procedures. Recognize, report and document unsafe acts or conditions. Execute pilot trials to understand the risk of new ideas and identify any deficiencies before substantial resources are committed. Use machines and equipment to process chemicals and raw materials into finished products which lead to new and improved systems, constructions, and processes having marketable cost/performance advantages. Measure, collect & analyze data, and provide real time results and feedback to customers. Always maintain housekeeping standards and 5S standards. Perform LOTO (lock out tag out) on applicable equipment and maintain authorization with annual training. Participate in department continuous improvement activities and serve as an ad hoc team member as required. Troubleshoot issues with trials and work cross functionally with internal team to resolve challenges. What we are looking for Minimum 1 year of general science or engineering college coursework or equivalent experience/education Solid fundamental understanding of higher-level mathematics, mechanics, general science, and general computer applications including Microsoft office products Able to perform repetitive manual tasks requiring hands, stand for extended periods of time and lift 35 lbs. Work schedule that may occasionally vary from typical business hours Expected to work with chemicals and may require the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) What we prefer Associates degree or higher in physical sciences (example: chemistry, physics) or engineering Minimum 2 years of demonstrated related experience in a technical laboratory, industrial manufacturing, or similar environment Come join us!
