R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEER II

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Responsibilities:

Lead Engineer for Printers/Associated Hardware:
•    Serve as the primary technical expert for all printer-related hardware used in TE's Identification products.
•    Collaborate closely with suppliers to define product requirements, specifications, and customizations to meet TE's needs.
•    Manage the selection, evaluation, and integration of new printer models into TE's product portfolio.
•    Work with Supply chain to negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply agreements with vendors.
•    Oversee the lifecycle management of printer hardware, equipment and ribbons, including obsolescence planning and replacement strategies
Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
•    Ensure that all printer hardware complies with relevant safety and environmental regulations, including CE marking, RoHS, and WEEE directives.
•    Manage the certification process for new printer models, working with suppliers and regulatory bodies
Product Development and Innovation
•    Contribute to the development of new identification products and solutions that leverage printer technology.
•    Identify opportunities to enhance existing products and processes through the integration of new printer features or functionalities
Develop Partnerships 
•    Build and maintain strong relationships with printer, equipment, and ribbon suppliers.
•    Contribute to technology roadmaps, stay informed about new product releases, and industry trends
 

Desired Candidate Profile:

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electrical, Mechanical or equivalent Engineering Degree with minimum 5 years of related industrial experience. Ideally involving thermal transfer printers, labeling systems, or industrial automation
•    Familiarity with TE Connectivity products: Prior experience with TE's Identification and Labelling products would be a significant advantage
•    Printer Hardware Expertise: Knowledge of thermal transfer printer technology, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
•    LEANPD: Experience in new product development processes, from concept to launch, including design, prototyping, testing, and documentation. 
•    Cost Reduction and Optimization.  Ability to identify and implement cost-saving measures in product design.  
•    Compliance and Regulations: Familiarity with CE marking, RoHS, WEEE, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations
•    Data Management: Proficiency in maintaining accurate technical data in corporate systems and online platforms
•    Training and Mentorship: Ability to develop and deliver technical training programs to internal teams and customers
•    Time Management and Organization: Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively, prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines.
•    Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders
