Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced and motivated R&D Project Manager to join our team at ABB Oy, Marine and Ports. This role is located in Helsinki Vuosaari, Finland. In this role, you will be developing products, systems, services and technologies for ABB´s Marine Service and Digital business line by leading and managing the execution of one or more R&D projects to meet the project targets. You will lead projects in the field of electrical energy systems and cover topics like electrical power systems as well as automation and digitalization related systems. Central to these projects are power converters (drives) and their applications, including battery storage, distributed power generation, DC microgrids, power and energy management systems, and digital optimization of energy systems. You will ensure that the team can plan, execute and complete our R&D projects globally. This is an interesting and professionally challenging position in an international working environment where you have the chance to work with one of the leaders in the industry. •Leading of global and cross-functional project(s) with substantial complexity and responsibility for all elements of the project •Motivating and leading internal and/or external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones •Managing the project team allocated to the project •Defining, with key stakeholders, the scope of work, cost/budget, resources required, time schedule and detailed work allocation •Formalizing the acceptance of the project and bringing all the project elements to a conclusion •Ensuring that the project follows sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with standard ABB internal directives and procedures •Ensuring that the projects follow external standards that influence activities and targets •Effectively communicating appropriate information to stakeholders in a timely manner and to achieve desired understanding and support

Qualifications for the role

M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Energy and Process Systems EngineeringSeveral years’ experience and track record in leading and managing R&D projects Good project planning, risk management and leadership skillsExperience in system drives and distributed power generation is an advantageExperience in system integration business is an advantageInnovative and open-minded, problem-solving approach to workAbility to work well in a team, self-driven and active personality Excellent written and spoken communication skills in EnglishIdeally, you have understanding and skills on lean and agile R&D development as well as IPMA (International Project Management Association) C level certificate or equivalent
